Selena Gomez, who is 30 today, is pictured above along with Martin Short (left) and Steve Martin (right). She was a headliner (https://lebeauleblog.com/2016/07/22/july-22-happy-birthday-selena-gomez-and-willem-dafoe/) in the first year of this series; now it’s time for another look at her career.

Gomez is currently starring as Mabel Mora on Hulu’s mystery/comedy series, Only Murders in the Building. Along with Martin and Short, she has received a number of acting accolades. Only Murders recently returned for its second season.

Gomez was born in Texas. She made her acting debut when she was about ten, in the first of several appearances on Barney & Friends. She made some TV guest appearances, before landing the starring role of Alex Russo on Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place, which began airing in 2007. During the show’s run, she starred in films like Another Cinderella Story and, with Joey King, in Ramona and Beezus, adapted from novels by Beverly Cleary.

Gomez also began making a name for herself as a singer. She released the first of three albums as the lead singer of Selena Gomez & the Scene, Kiss & Tell, in 2009. Since then, she has released three studio albums as a solo artist, beginning with Stars Dance in 2013. She has also released several EPs; her Spanish language EP Revelación, which came out last year, brought Gomez her first Grammy nomination, for Best Latin Pop Album.

After Wizards of Waverly Place ended in 2012, Gomez took a few film roles where she appeared to be trying to move beyond her Disney Channel beginnings. She had a major role in Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers, and starred with Ethan Hawke in the thriller Getaway. She also made a cameo as herself in The Big Short, and was part of the ensemble cast of Jim Jarmusch’s The Dead Don’t Die.

Along with Revelación and Only Murders, Gomez’s recent projects have included being an executive producer of Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why, and producing and hosting the HBO Max series Selena + Chef.
