View Full Version : Don Kotts 3s: Company or Andy Griffin?
LucyCompanyPhan 09-28-2001, 08:38 PM Which one did you like him better on? i thought he was funnier and the character was better on 3s Company. On Andy Griffin he was like the only Funny person on the show, where 3s Company jack, janet, cindy, chrissy, ropers, larry or terri...they were all funny. I thought Don Kotts was good on Andy Griffin too.

Lucy" I saw a sign that said take one so i took one. After that i took anything even if it didnt say take on. I took a bright new bicycle, a shiny new penny. I even took a little boy... yeah but my mommy made me take him back."
DarleneIllyria 09-28-2001, 10:21 PM I liked Don better on The Andy Griffith Show.

Lumpy: Did you go out for anything, Dud?
Dudley: Well, I went out for football, but I got my finger stepped on, so my mother made me quit.
Eddie: Well listen-- I went out for basketball and I got my hair pulled, and my mother made ME quit.
Dudley: It's not that I was afraid of getting hurt or anything; it's just that-- well, it's kind o' hard to play the flute with a busted finger.

lukes42 09-29-2001, 08:22 PM Andy Griffith Show, without a doubt. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/cool.gif
Steveman68 09-30-2001, 11:05 AM Definitely The Andy Griffith Show
LucyFan 09-30-2001, 02:32 PM Don knotts was funny on both shows. But I think he was funnier as Mr. Furley on Three's Company. Barney Fife was somewhat annoying on The Andy Griffith Show. So my vote goes to . . . Mr. Furley on THREE'S COMPANY.
TAGS, no contest. Barney Fife is one of the greatest tv characters of all time.
Don Knotts was a good Furley, but he was born to play Barn.
Beruche 09-30-2001, 10:40 PM I liked him better in Three's Company.Even though I thought he was funny in TAGS too.
Flora Malherbe 10-06-2001, 07:37 PM I definitely thought Don made a much better showing on The Andy Griffith Show. I thought he shone as Barney. As Mr. Furley, he had fewer redeeming qualities. I could see Barney becoming a bit like Mr. Furley as he aged, you know, the "swingin' bachelor, but some of the traits that made Barney so special are missing from Mr. Furley. I think that's because the basic makeup of "Three's Compnay" had fewer redeeming qualities than The Andy Griffith Show, and I am sure the writers had totally different assignments to compose dialogues and character for the two separate show. In the final analysis, "Three's Company" comes off funny, but also a bit sleazy, a bit silly, and definitely the message each time was lame: "The roommates have a misunderstanding and have to work it out." The Andy Griffith show, however, dealt with issues of loyalty, compassion, honesty, integrity, and while making us laugh, also showed us how to be better people. No wonder Barney shone.
In one of the mysterious nooks of my memory bank Barney lives as a real person that I think about and miss in some intangible way. Mr. Furley is only a TV character.
Marta2 10-12-2001, 08:07 PM I definitely liked him better on Andy Griffith. Barney was odd and kooky, but in a realistic way. As Mr. Furly he was just too wierd - mostly those clothes - yech!

Threes, definatly. He wasn't all that interesting to me on TAGS (Actually, TAGS as a whole is pretty boring, IMHO). I liked Mr.Furley better in the last four seasons then in his first, when he was pretty mean. TC had a lot of morals if you dig deep enough, such as don't lie and stick with your friends.
