"Ferris Bueller" (1990) and "When Things Were Rotten" (1975) are airing back to back at 11:30PM central starting Monday 8/19. Both shows only produced 13 episodes. They are replacing "Sledge Hammer!" and "Brooklyn Bridge". I appreciate the fact they are giving rare sitcoms some air time in this time slot.

Aw, you beat me to it! I was just about to post about Ferris Bueller b/c I just saw that it was on and set my DVR to record it! I had the biggest crush on Charlie Schlatter when I first saw him in the movie "18 Again" and was so happy that he was on a TV series! I was disappointed when they canceled it even though it didn't live up to the movie at all!

In retrospect it seems like a bone-headed move to chain-saw a cardboard cutout of Matthew Broderick in the opening scene...probably turned off a lot of fans of the movie and sealed the fate of the series before it even started.

No argument there. I tried to watch an episode and it was so bad I deleted all of the other recordings I had scheduled. I do like Charlie Schlatter though. If only the writing hadn't been so horrible

Both series were very short lived at only about 13 episodes. It looks like Decades skipped the pilot of When Things Were Rotten and started with episode 2?
I checked the Decades schedule and starting Sep. 9 in this time slot will be the Mod Squad! At 123 episodes this is going to be the longest series they've aired so far in this "Fantastic TV" slot since they started it last October with the entire run of the Fugitive. There are enough episodes of the Mod Squad to carry us through the end of February.
I believe these are all the shows shows they've run in the Fantastic TV slot so far?
The Fugitive - Oct 2018
Twin Peaks - Apr 2019
The Powers of Matthew Star - May 2019
Sledgehammer/Brooklyn Bridge - Jul 2019
When Things Were Rotten/Ferris Bueller - Aug 2019
The Mod Squad - Sep 2019

Not sure how I missed Matthew Star, would have liked to see that. Surprised they will be putting such a long-running series into this time slot, was hoping for more obscure shows.

The Fugitive was almost as long with 120 episodes. The other shows that appear in the "Fantastic TV" promo they run which they haven't aired yet are Police Squad, Square Pegs, and Bosom Buddies. I guess those will air in 2020.

Looking at next week, it looks like Decades is making more changes to its very late night schedule. Starting 9/2 Monday night, at 3 AM (central) Annie Oakley is being replaced by The Millionaire. Also the following week at 3:30 Honey West will be replaced by a second episode of The Millionaire.
I'm much more excited though about 4 am, Thriller is being removed for back-to-back episodes of The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis! They'll be starting over with the first episode. I'm not sure when that was last on the air.
I also noticed the weekend binge 9/14-15 will be The Big Valley. :)

I finally got around to watching "Ferris Bueller" and couldn't help but think of Charlie Schlatter as the male version of Mary Cadorette (of "Three's a Crowd" fame). Both were cast as relative unknowns as leads in spin-offs that were quickly cancelled, and neither seemed to have the chops for those kinds of roles. Schlatter has done much better since though with his supporting role in Diagnosis Murder and tons of ongoing voice work.
