Following the successes of Survivor and The Apprentice Mark Burnett was becoming a superstar and decided to press his luck by creating another reality show that would become huge and become a smash. The result by teaming up with Sylvester Stallone and creating a show with the goal of finding the next boxing superstar and The Contender was born. In The Contender teams of guys had to face the ultimate challenge of becoming a boxer by competing in various challenges with the challenge winners facing off in a boxing match each episode and the winner of the match got to continue while the losing contestant was voted off. Despite being a strong winner for NBC The Contender was soon cancelled but a reboot debuted on ESPN with a new host and new changes and a third reboot was done of The Contender with Tony Danza as the host. The Contender was a good show that deserved more time but it was cool to see who the next boxing star would be
