My Favorite Martian is one show that I have to put everything down, be it phone, tablet, book or conversation, to truly appreciate. Because of the science fiction component there is a lot of content that can be missed and in turn can make it hard to understand the story of the episode.

This can happen on the simplest show. I happened to watch a Dennis the Menace on DVD (rather than the lazy way on Antenna TV) and saw something that was edited out in TV syndiction, and it was, aha, now I get that reference!

The short lived sitcom Police Squad. The show had numerous sight gags that you had to pay close attention to get them. That was also why the show had a short run. But the producers behind Police Squad had even greater success with The Naked Gun and its two sequels.
