Don Knotts was a tremendously talented comedic actor. Could you picture anyone else pulling off the role of Braney Fife as well?

Yes, he did a wonderful job. And no, I can't picture anyone else in that roll, but my emagination isn't that great. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

I agree he was a fabulous Barney Fife and nobody could ever pull off the Barney Fife character, but him.

Lumpy: Did you go out for anything, Dud?

Dudley: Well, I went out for football, but I got my finger stepped on, so my mother made me quit.

Eddie: Well listen-- I went out for basketball and I got my hair pulled, and my mother made ME quit.

Dudley: It's not that I was afraid of getting hurt or anything; it's just that-- well, it's kind o' hard to play the flute with a busted finger.

I agree. For the most part, I think he sorta carried the show, he was very hilarious, and only he could do that part! :)

The Andy Griffith show was never the same after he left.

I loved the chemistry that Andy and Don had together, this chemistry apparently started long before the Andy Griffith show.

I just wished they had done more movies together, or at least another television series.
