it's impossible to name just one but here goes: in no particular order: 1) Mr Terrific, 2) Barbara Thorndyke, 3) Freda Claxton, 4) both Kirstens (but especially the second version when Rose was sick), 5) the one roommate Rose had [her new beach friends lol] when she moved out, 6) Rose's other daughter that slept with Michael, 7) the second Dennis who cheated on the second Kate (lol)...I could go on,

Probably the worst was the jerk who was abusive to Blanche, Rex Huntington.

The Cheeseman is #1 on my list

I also never liked the cast of Empty Next dropping in various episodes in later seasons

Speaking of which, the entire cast of the Empty Nest in that episode with the girls. Mr Fix it, and everyone else we should have never met.

Sophia's brother Angelo annoyed the hell out of me.
I hated the boyfriend of Blanche's daughter Rebecca.
I loathed Dorothy's son-in-law Dennis.
Hated Blanche's boyfriend Rex Huntington.
Despised Dorothy's boyfriend Elliott who hit on Blanche and then lied about it.

Angelo was perfect in his first appearance when he visited and was going to re-marry Dorothy and Stan. He admitted he was no longer a priest. It was a hysterical episode. But I agree once they made him a recurring character he was annoying especially when he was renting the apartment with bugs.

I despised that bastard Rex Huntington who talked down to Blanche and put his hands on Dorothy. Blanche should have learned to bake pies. Then, whenever Rex got upset, she could have “sprinkled a little something” in one before retiring to the living room and forcing Rex to eat it. After that, she wouldn’t have to worry about him anymore.

The Villainous Golden Girls Character Fans Hated The Most (https://www.looper.com/943026/the-villainous-golden-girls-character-fans-hated-the-most/)

Fans can't stand Rebecca's fiancé Jeremy

Of the outsized number of creeps and unsavory side characters on "The Golden Girls," one fan narrowed the field down to five contenders in a Reddit poll (https://www.reddit.com/r/theGoldenGirls/comments/h0rb6j/whos_the_worst_villain_on_the_show/) that asks, "Who's the worst 'villain' on the show?" The number one spot went to Jeremy (Joe Regalbuto), the fiancé of Blanche's daughter, Rebecca (Shawn Schepps). Although he appears just once, in the Season 3 episode "Blanche's Little Girl," (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0589723/) the character makes quite the impression, as Jeremy spends the entire episode cruelly berating Rebecca and making fatphobic comments, only to get a taste of his own medicine from Dorothy. As u/Dionysus232 (https://www.reddit.com/r/theGoldenGirls/comments/h0rb6j/comment/ftofzn7/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) put it, "Jeremy was just awful ..."

The other "Golden Girls" top villain contenders are just as monstrous. Barbara Thorndyke (Bonnie Bartlett), a haughty anti-Semite, came in second in the poll, and Blanche's abusive boyfriend Rex Huntington (Mitchell Ryan) placed third. "God they are all horrible," wrote u/jasmine7098 (https://www.reddit.com/r/theGoldenGirls/comments/h0rb6j/comment/furatnh/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3). "Rex was physically and verbally abusive, Jeremy was verbally abusive and Barb was anti-Semetic. I really can't choose between those 3."

The crotchety Freida Claxton (Nan Martin) and Rose's selfish daughter Kirsten (Christine Belford and Lee Garlington) also racked up some votes. Other users pointed to villains who didn't make the cut. "Daisy, the sociopathic girl scout!" wrote u/homasecksyul (https://www.reddit.com/r/theGoldenGirls/comments/h0rb6j/comment/ftpbyvl/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3). "Don't forget Nancy, the hotel front desk clerk that extorted money from the girls," added u/MrMattyMatt (https://www.reddit.com/r/theGoldenGirls/comments/h0rb6j/comment/ftoukco/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3).

While the high incidence of villainous characters may seem like a lot for a sitcom, their presence only serves to bolster the friendships of the four main women, who often come to each other's aid. On a panel at PaleyFest LA (https://youtu.be/W5z9zHcgQSg?t=611) in 2006, series creator Susan Harris spoke to that friendship. "['The Golden Girls'] represents a family, and I think very often we find our families outside of our family," she said. "And it's very reassuring to have that."

I may be alone but I loved Barbara Thorndyke for the b**ch that she was. It took awhile but Dorothy caught on. But I loved the drama of the episode.
Freda Claxton was another favorite villain of the series.

I guess I dont mind villains but I hate annoying characters more

Golden Girls Fans Make It Abundantly Clear Who They Think The Girls' Worst Sibling Is (https://www.looper.com/949958/golden-girls-fans-make-it-abundantly-clear-who-they-think-the-girls-worst-sibling-is/)

Rose's sister Holly was an easy pick for worst sibling, according to Golden Girls fans

The winning (or should we say losing?) sibling proved herself to be Holly Lindstrom (Inga Swenson), aka the younger sister of Rose Nyland (Betty White) on "The Golden Girls." While the character made only one appearance on the show during its seven-season run, she clearly made a major impact, with 208 of the 371 Redditors voting her the worst of the show's various siblings.

If you know the episode in which Holly came to town (titled "Little Sister") you know she likely earned a bit of that hate, as she wasn't particularly kind to the soft-hearted Rose. So reviled is Holly among "The Golden Girls" fans for her actions, the comments section of the poll is overrun with harsh words for the character, including u/GoldenGrlz (https://www.reddit.com/r/theGoldenGirls/comments/pac2b3/comment/ha3ofcc/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)'s post, stating, "[Holly is] manipulative and a gaslighter and just all around awful." Meanwhile, u/TrulyKristen (https://www.reddit.com/r/theGoldenGirls/comments/pac2b3/comment/ha40rvh/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) claimed casting their vote for Holly was exceedingly easy, while one mystery user (https://www.reddit.com/r/theGoldenGirls/comments/pac2b3/comment/ha43psf/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) was very much on the same page, commenting, "Holly was so insufferable. She wasn't a sister, she was a middle school mean girl!"

There is a narrative upside to Holly's awfulness though, as u/RaspberryMobile2554 (https://www.reddit.com/r/theGoldenGirls/comments/pac2b3/comment/ha3rro1/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) noted, by praising Rose for finally putting Holly in her place at episode's end. "Holly for sure," the user wrote, "I'm glad Rose stood up to her!"

A few other names naturally came up in the discourse, with Dorothy Zbornak's big sister Gloria Harker (Doris Belacek and Dena Deitrich) also earning her share of votes, and general ire. But Rose's shamefully manipulative sister is the clear choice as the series' worst sibling.

For me, there's no contest...

Does she mouth off to her elders, wee in the woods or threaten to own the Keaton house too?

I'd agree that Jeremy was plain awful and loathsome.

BestTvEver- Freida Claxton cracked me up- one of my favorite "villains." As miserable as she was, I never hated her. Never really hated Barbara Thorndyke, either- and agree that she was a grade-A b**ch.
