Some of the cartoons that there making now are just plain STUIPID wwouldn't you think like the plot of the cartoons and the charactors I iked the older cartoons better because they were fun they were imagininitive and creative and fun.
I think that the cartoons that they make now don't have much detail in there work and they just whip it up.
Does anyone agree?

All these Japanese cartoons freak me out. Pokemon and all the imitators are just plain wierd.

However, some new stuff like Superman, Justice League and the many incarnations of Batman are very good.

Ditto to Pokemon being weird. It's funny how it got so trendy though with all the little Pokemon cards and all.

I would agree that most of the new cartoons are weird and dumb (Ed, Edd, and Eddy being an example), but they aren't all bad. Powerpuff Girls is awesome.

I disagree somewhat. I think you could have the greatest animator in the world draw a cartoon. However, if it isn't funny, it isn't funny. I enjoy Powerpuff girls, Dexter's Lab and SpongeBob. Those cartoons are very witty.

I agree 120 percent. The earlier days of cartoons were also the greatest. Life was easier back then too. You did not fart your time away listening to Britney Spears records or hear about terrorist attacks. Cartoons did not feature constant talk about chick issues either.

I hate to say this, but whoever has those Britney Spears photos, get rid of them because I want to remember the old days. However, God's plan for me was to be an architect. I said and thought to myself that architects ruin everything! After I saw a Britney concert, no offense but I saw some idiot band members that look like architects. They might just be architects. So please, if you have anything that reminds me of today or fine architecture, get rid of it! It has no place on this board. Thank you for reading this message.

I apologise if I offended you, but I might as well quit going here since you came along. I will visit a place where I can talk to people who listen to swing music and enjoy the pre World War 2 years. I bet you never heard of Cab Calloway!

I sent you an e-mail explainning my case of why I hate her since it is too long to tell you here. It is very informative and prehaps we could talk about it further. I wrote down your e-mail address and put you on my buddy list. I will make you a deal, if you say, by reading my e-mail that I should continue doing what I do best, then I will respect you and this site. If not, I will NEVER, EVER come here again! I will be a big renegade. I asked you because you were the perfect one to ask.

I wasn't half serious when I said that......someone told me about someone saying Britney Spears has no right on the site, and so I just typed up stuff not really thinking......I wasn't really serious or anything. By the way, I didn't get your e-mail

I was just in a bad mood when I typed that. My girlfriend was on my nerves and I was really frustrated at her last night. I was not thinking either. I also got very carried away last night. I hope you got my e-mail. I happen to be a big fan of Britney's. The only time when I do not like her is when I got my girlfriend demanding things out of me. Luckilly, I told her I would be busy with school so really, I am sorry I did not put you on my buddy list and all last night. Case is over, and forget everything I said about her. I look foward to dumping my g/f so I don't have to do that again.

Yeah, I admit too,a lot of cartoons pretty much suck these days. But, have u ever thought that the reason why is because we're growing up? Our tastes have just matured, and people become interested in different things. Every so often, I watch cartoons that i loved when i was a kid (like Rescue Rangers, Tail Spin, Sonic the Hedgehog), and they actually made me bored. Its just fine to happily look back at the TV of the past, but its not good to try to live in the past. So im just gonna keep lookin forward to all the new toons comin out.

By the way...I CANT WAIT for the new Kirby cartoon!

I like some of the newer cartoons, like Doug, Pepper Ann, Spongebob, Powerpuff Girls, Kim Possible............but stuff like Invader Zim and Pokemon and all those crazy shows like that, those shows are just downright stupid!

I have to admit that with some of the newer cartoons being produced for the networks there is an overbearing blandness about them. Most of the adventure series focus on one teen who's the saviour of the whole universe, the villians aren't really much of a threat to anyone (hell, Rocky and Bullwinkle can take Team Rocket!), and all of the non-adventure series contain so many pro-social messages you feel like you're STILL in school!!

Thank God for cable tv!!

At least on cable cartoons are ALLOWED to have an attitude! (Remember when Fox Kids used to have an attitude? How quickly the rebels sell out for a buck these days!!) Spectacular series like the Powerpuff Girls and The Fairly Odd Parents would be neutered quick on the big 4. And lets not forget the HUGE array of anime on the cable channels that have NOTHING to do with Pokecards and Digivices (Sailor Moon and Dragonball not withstanding, of course.)

Long live politically-incorrect cartoons!

The new Scooby Doo that was on Saturday was very good . I thought it held true to the original. Having the original voices for Shaggy and Fred was great. I hope this one lasts for a long time.

I totally agree. These new cartoons - I mean, who is dreaming this stuff up? It is terrible. "Scooby-Doo" and "The Flintstones" will out live any of the junk they come up with now.

There is no comparison between today's "cartoons" (and I use that term lightly) and the greats of yesteryear. In fact, the ONLY cartoons that have been produced over the last 15 years that are worth anything are:

1) Batman: The Animated Series
2) Superman

Everything else, whether it be offerings by Cartoon Network, Nick, etc. are just not up to snuff.

Everything today is "potty" humor and simply not funny. Nor is the animation any good (except for the shows mentioned above). I don't understand how the cartoons produced in the 50's and 60's are of better quality than now, but they surely are!

most of the cartoons that are being made today are stupid and vulgar. a few years ago i couldn't wait to get the Cartoon Network because all they advertised were that they were the home of the classic cartoons! Imagine my sock when most of the waking hours are spent airing cartoons that they've made! The call them Cartoon Cartoons! How is the younger generation going to be exposed and have a respect for older cartoons if they're aired when they're either asleep or in school? I'm not saying all new cartoons are awful in the sense that I'm opposed to change because i'm not. new cartoons are awful because they are...the only 'new' cartoon I've seen that I've actually laughed at and enjoyed is "Dexter's Laboratory" but it's not something I'd rush home to see. I like the older stuff that Cartoon Network airs on Saturday and Sunday nights after midnight ("Wacky Races", "Perils of Penelope Pitstop", "Toon Heads", "The Tex Avery Show", "The Chuck Jones Show", and all the other cartoons made before 1985.)

I think most of us agree with you because we, as adults, have outgrown that "love" for cartoons or at least for the more new ones. I don't know how old you are, but I'm guessing that you're 18 or over, if not, you sound very mature.

Another reason could be that it seems that we're experiencing an invasion of "foreign cartoons" and we are not used to that kind of format or plot in a cartoon. That's just my opinion. :)

I would say that a large majority of the cartoons out today aren't all that great. But you have to keep in mind that with a whole network devoted to cartoons, more cartoons are being made, and therefore there is more room to make crappy ones.

I don't see how you all could possibly think "Scooby doo" and "The Flintstones" and all that "Boomerang" crap are "great" cartoons. I mean sure I liked all those as a kid, but in my opinion they aren't "great". To me a "great" cartoon is something that can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. (personally I derive no joy from Scooby, Flintstones, or Boomerang as an adult).

The true greats in my opinion are the Chuck Jones era of Looney Tunes, and some other Looney Tunes. Animaniacs. Tiny Toons is borderline. I find it enjoyable as an adult but it is a bit less sophisticated (as far as adult humor) than Animaniacs. I also find myself enjoying the Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory, Samuri Jack, SpongeBob Squarepants, Batman, Batman returns, and various anime.

As for the shows of today looking like they were thrown together without much effort: sometimes true, but great artwork does not always define a great cartoon. The animation in the old Looney Tunes is very simplistic, but it gets the job done without being cluttered, and dosn't detract from its greatness.

Just my two cents.

Don't pay attention to the attachment, just linking it so I can put it in my siggy.

Same here, which is one reason I like The Powerpuff Girls so much. Sure, it looks like a kiddie cartoon on the outside, but there are so many jokes and things said that kids just wouldn't get. Anyone who's ever seen the episode "Meet the Beat Alls," oughta know that. One Beatle reference after another. How many 5 and 6 year olds could pick out every reference?

I disagree with that, The Flintstones and Scooby Doo are both enjoyed by both adult and child generations. I used to enjoy both when I was young and I still watch them both now.
Something like Scooby doo which after 32 years can still make a Blockbuster movie and a new series must be considered a classic.

You can say you don't like them but it's unfair to brand classic shows as "crap."
