From the 80's to the 2000's BET had it's own R&B music video show titled Video Soul. Video Soul focused on the newest and hottest videos from R&B artists such as Mary J. Blige R. Kelly Usher Toni Braxton and many others and from time to time Video Soul would do interviews with artists and have artists perform their hit singles. And watchers of Video Soul could call a special number to request a video for a fee. Video Soul had such an excellent viewership that BET spun off a second music video show called Midnight Love that focused on the videos of ballads and like Video Soul had a special request line and dedication line which allowed the viewer to request a video and add a dedication also for a fee by calling a special number. When it came to music shows BET had the really good sense for marketing new artists with their new albums and I wonder why we don't see music shows like Video Soul today on BET
