Longtime fans can't stand the gloomy lighting in the Conner home
For longtime viewers, the Conner house still feels like home sweet home, but there's one detail in recent seasons that fans aren't loving — and once you notice it, you can't unsee it.
In a Reddit thread (https://www.reddit.com/r/TheConners/comments/vi7e3i/the_lighting_in_season_10_vs_the_conners_season_4/), a fan posted a photo from "Roseanne" Season 10 — the last season with Roseanne Barr — and one from "The Conners" Season 4. The "Roseanne" picture appears to be much brighter, while "The Conners" has a darker look to it. The original poster challenged fans to compare the lighting in the final "Roseanne" season against "The Conners" latest season. Right away, critics chimed in to admit they don't like the dimmer lighting featured in the spinoff series.
"I can't stand it. I think S10 was more in line with how the show originally looked," one commenter wrote (https://www.reddit.com/r/TheConners/comments/vi7e3i/comment/idbkmgz) of the lighting. Another fan (https://www.reddit.com/r/TheConners/comments/vi7e3i/the_lighting_in_season_10_vs_the_conners_season_4/idgywh6/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) noted that Season 10 felt like the "Roseanne" from the 1980's and '90s with an orange glow to the lighting. "The Conners has been consistently poorly lit, and green tinted. It affects the feel of the content," another wrote (https://www.reddit.com/r/TheConners/comments/vi7e3i/comment/idgywh6/).
"I actually hadn't noticed this for the longest time, to be honest, but once I did it was really jarring. So gloomy," another fan chimed in (https://www.reddit.com/r/TheConners/comments/vi7e3i/comment/idb9fiv/). "Dimmer lighting seems like it fits with the 'average family' feeling, but they've gone pretty far too where it feels more depressing," another agreed (https://www.reddit.com/r/TheConners/comments/vi7e3i/comment/idb9fiv).
For Season 5, fans can look forward to some new construction as newlyweds Darlene and Ben (Sara Gilbert, Jay R. Ferguson) build a house. Hopefully, they can afford to pay the light bill, too.
