Scary Lucy
Lucille Ball Memorial Park, 21 Boulevard Ave, Jamestown (Celoron), New York

In 2009 Lucille Ball’s hometown of Celoron, New York, unveiled a statue by artist Dave Poulin in the comedian’s honor. But resident’s were skeptical of its not-so-accurate looks and weird expression, dubbing the off-statue “Scary Lucy.”

Lovely Lucy
After Scary Lucy went viral, garnering press and laughs from around the world, a new statue was commissioned to replace the scary counterpart. Sculptor Carolyn Palmer was chosen and, on August 6, 2016 (Ball’s 105th birthday), the new statue was unveiled. (Don’t worry, they kept the original too, so you can visit both.)

Lucy on a Bench
100 N. Palm Canyon Dr., Palm Springs, California

- James Garner as Bret Maverick in Maverick
Downtown, Norman, Oklahoma

- Noel Neill as Lois Lane Statue in Adventures of Superman
Metropolis, Illinois

Thanks for the list, very much appreciated.

You may surprised to know about what seems to be a no-longer-displayed statue. Not based on a character, but still of interest was a fantastic statue of TV star Danny Thomas.

It was a tribute to his having established St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, and children were part of the sculpture. The statue was located in Toledo, Ohio until sadly taken down (there had been senseless vandalism). Lots of members here are Ohioans, so I'm certain one or more will let us know more.

I believe you'll see his daughter Marlo in this photo - seated at lower right:

Once again not a character and apparently no longer on display was a statue of TV star Red Skelton in Vincennes, Indiana -- his birthplace. I won't have time to research it, so again thanks to those who can do so (us northern Hoosiers are not as familiar with the southern cities):

- Noel Neill as Lois Lane Statue in Adventures of Superman
Metropolis, Illinois

Interesting considering "Metropolis" was very obviously New York City and had nothing to do with that place.

Sgt. Carter - Frank Sutton star of Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C - Franklin Street, Clarksville, TN.

Gomer Pyle: USMC was a hit TV series in the 1960s. Its best character was not Gomer, but the eternally-exasperated Sergeant Carter, played by Frank Sutton (1923-1974). Sutton was born in Clarksville, moved away when he was a kid.

I am from Memphis and Danny Thomas was more or less an honrary Memphian. There is even a street named after him (which unfortunatley you dont want to be walking on at night). Thomas and his gorgeous daughter Marlo had a lot of benefits and whatnot in Memphis.

My interest is why Danny Thomas and the hospital chose Memphis of all places. Memphis does boast at least one medical school and has some good hospitals but is not that great compared to other cities. Probably the Foundation got the land cheap.
