REDWOOD CITY (CBS13) — A judge must now decide if Scott Peterson gets a new trial for the killings of his wife, Laci Peterson, and their unborn son in 2002.

Peterson appeared in a Redwood City courtroom Monday wearing a mask. His attorneys argued the court should throw out his conviction over juror seven, who never told the court she was the victim of a crime.

A ruling on a new trial is expected later this year. Peterson’s family says new evidence should set him free.

Peterson was originally sentenced to death for the murders. That sentence was reduced last month to life without parole after a higher court ruled the judge made a mistake with jury instructions.

I'm interested to know what this new evidence is, but I still believe he's guilty.

It's mainly because of juror misconduct. Juror #7 (Richelle Nice) lied on her juror application. If she had told the truth, she never would have been picked to be a juror. Also, new evidence is in about the burglary that took place across the street from the Peterson home when Laci went missing.

Thanks for the info. What's your take on his guilt or innocence?

I find it interesting that there is zero physical evidence linking him to the murder. He is a proven liar and cheater. He is scum but lying to your wife and your mistress/having an affair is not a crime.
There is the evidence of one of Laci's hairs being on Scott's boat, but what exactly does that mean? That one hair could have been transferred.
I have doubt. I'm not saying Scott is innocent. I'm not saying he's guilty either. What I am saying is that I have reasonable doubt.
Oh yeah, that nut case juror no. 7 was so obsessed with Scott Peterson that she wrote him 29 letters since he's been in prison. She even wrote him about her time at the mental ward since the trial.
