My favorite episode of the series is probably "A Very Warm Reception" from early in season 1. An all around enjoyable episode with good supporting performances from Gavin McLeod and Simon Oakland.

I like the opening credit sequence that was used in season 1. Starting with season 2, a new opening credit sequence was used and I don't like that one as much.

Some episodes don't really have much to do with thievery and Al Mundy is more of a spy than a thief. Maybe the writers had difficulty coming up with thief stories every week and thinking of stuff for Al Mundy to steal.

Malachi Throne left the series after season 2 due to a dispute with the shows producers. Different actors were brought in during season 3 to fill Malachi's role.

Fred Astaire, who is mostly known as a song and dance man in musicals, joined the series in season 3 and appeared in a few episodes playing the role of Al Mundy's father.

It Takes A Thief ran for 3 seasons, but it was actually 2 1/2 seasons because season 1 is only a half season. It Takes A Thief was a mid season replacement in January 1968, taking the spot formerly occupied by The Invaders on ABC's Tuesday night schedule.

The complete series DVD was released in 2011 but has been out of print now for awhile and sets are being sold on line for hundreds of dollars.
