I took the Season 2, Vol. 1 DVD out of the library. Rick is a guest star in an episode entitled "Harem". Other guest stars were Kay Lenz and Laurette Spang McCook. It's quite an interesting episode.

OH Nuts! 12-13-2008, 03:55 PM I hope I come across this!! catlover79 12-13-2008, 05:40 PM He plays the flute in this episode, too. I checked this out of the library because Gregory Sierra (:eyes:) was in one episode. I decided to watch the other episodes and found it a very compelling show! The main library here only goes back to In Living Colorfor TV shows, and I aint about to watch that. catlover79 12-14-2008, 04:23 PM Wanna trade libraries. The main library here only goes back to In Living Colorfor TV shows, and I aint about to watch that. Bummer. My local public library is affiliated with the Cleveland Public Library, so there are many libraries that go through the same hold/request service. Thus there's a lot of variety. We're spoiled here. snorlaxnut 12-14-2008, 04:57 PM My library doesn't have that DVD. But I am the first on the hold list for the season 4 DVD set of Saturday Night Live, and that has an episode hosted by Rick! :D Goldilocks 12-15-2008, 02:24 PM I can't wait to see this! Isn't Ricky like some hippie pied-piper in this eppy? I can't imagine Ricky saying to Michael Douglas or Carl Molden (sp?), "Groovy man...." AB 12-15-2008, 06:05 PM I'd love to see that episode! It was wonderful. catlover79 12-15-2008, 11:18 PM I can't wait to see this! Isn't Ricky like some hippie pied-piper in this eppy? I can't imagine Ricky saying to Michael Douglas or Carl Molden (sp?), "Groovy man...." That's the ep! I don't think he said "groovy", though. Goldilocks 07-25-2011, 06:08 PM The whole episode is uploaded on Youtube! It's great! Here's part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TewVLcJN-SY&feature=related I don't know if I like seeing Ricky portraying a ruthless sociopathic pimp! He's great in it, nevertheless! Dan Tullis 07-28-2011, 05:19 PM Rick liked playing bad guys. He was on an ep of McCloud as a musician who'd taken part in a robbery (before his success in music) where someone got killed. Good episode. I enjoy seeing him on these types of shows more than the fluff he was often cast in, like the Love Boat. His SNL appearance was probably the highlight of his post-Ozzie acting career, and one of the highest rated eps of that series. He was so good as himself in the Twilight Zone parody, and the Candy Slice skit. biffbronson 07-28-2011, 05:40 PM Rick's physical appearance changed so much in the years following the end of O & H series. As he says in his hit "Garden Party," he just "didn't look the same" by the early '70s. This was a dark episode. Rick is convincing, and the newer look (I think) helps him carry off the role effectively. Goldilocks 07-30-2011, 07:52 AM Rick liked playing bad guys. (Tracy must've inherited this from him, as she always plays darker characters so convincingly!) That episode of SNL is one of their funniest EVER as far as I'm concerned. That Twilight Zone parody is priceless! "Hey Mom, I'm home!" Dan Tullis 07-30-2011, 05:49 PM I saw Tracy in a made for tv movie where she played an obsessed stalker/murderer, and I must say she was very convincing. I'd think twice before hiring her as a babysitter! catlover79 07-30-2011, 11:12 PM That episode of SNL is one of their funniest EVER as far as I'm concerned. That Twilight Zone parody is priceless! Cool - thanks!!! :D Doug-oh 04-14-2024, 06:39 PM I saw the ep. Great ep. Ricky was great, too, though he didn't have a ton of lines. Mostly played his flute. It's easy to forget how big a rock and roll star he was in the late 50s. He was 2nd only to Elvis in terms of chart singles. A big hitmaker. From late 1958 through 1959, he had 10 Top 10 hit singles, and 13 Top 20 singles. That's about 5 big hit singles a year. Most acts have 2-3. Believe What You Say was quite a rocker, a rockabilly single. Of course, Ricky didn't write his songs, like Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Chuck Berry, and, later, like Brian Wilson (Beach Boys) and Lennon/McCartney, but still... quite a big success. |
