The year was 1997 and Spice Girls had already made their mark on American soil as the top girl band of the 90's with their debut album a mighty seller. Soon after their second album Spice World came out Spice Girls were already huge stars and based on that success a movie starring Spice Girls would soon turn them into movie stars. The movie also titled Spice World showcased the group's acting talents very well in a comedic manner. Spice World the movie followed Spice Girls as they traveled in their iconic tour bus The Spicebus as they made friends with fans and impressed many UK celebrities as they prepped for their biggest tour ever. Spice World was a smash hit when it debuted in theaters and gave fans their biggest wish to see Spice Girls do movies for the first time. I remember seeing Spice World when I rented it on video and was impressed by their antics and fun in the movie. But I think Spice Girls could've made a sequel to Spice World had Geri Halliwell not left the group and it would've been a smash hit

I think the main reason why Spice World was made in 1997 was so Spice Girls could be like The Beatles did with their movies but I think Spice World also became popular because it was a milestone as the first ever Spice Girls movie in history. Because when you get the general picture when big groups such as ABBA become huge they make movies as we saw ABBA The Movie work for ABBA. But in the Spice Girls case had Geri Halliwell not left Spice Girls after Spice World was finished the movie would've done better. I still cannot even today figure out why Geri Halliwell left Spice Girls in the first place but I think she mainly quit because she wanted more money and a chance to shine and Spice World was her ticket to more money for herself and launch a solo career in addition to being in Spice Girls. But Spice World could've been the start of a series of Spice Girls movies
