And he is totally correct.

I feel the same way about all of this CGI overindulgence. Some of it can be stunning and complex(perhaps too complex i.e. Transformers), but I have always said it lacks humanity and, quite frankly, realism.
Take one of my favorite King Kong movies, from 1976 and compare it with the newer CGI versions. There are REAL emotions behind those eyes of Kong in the '76 version, because it is a real actor. It adds to the realism which in turn adds to the audience's emotional involvement, excitement and fright.
