An I Love Lucy Father’s Day:
(The Ricardos & Mertzes are in the Mertz’s guest house.)
Ethel: “I can’t wait for my Dad to show up. I’m going to be so excited, I can’t eat.”
Fred: “I believe that when I see it.”
Lucy: “Oh, leave her alone Fred.”
Ricky: “Yeah, she’s just a growing girl.”
Fred: “Yeah, but she is growing sideways.“
Lucy: “You should have seen what Little Ricky and me gave Ricky for Dad’s Day. A brand new conga drum.”
Ricky: “Yes, after you broke my old one by using it as a baseball bat to battle an intruder only to find out it was me who was the intruder. You had lots of ‘splaining to do.”
Lucy: “Are you going to bring that up again?”
Ricky: “Yes.”
(Soon after, Ethel’s Dad comes in.)
Ethel’s Dad: “Glad to see you all. I missed you Ethel. You are big in Albuquerque.”
Fred: “She’s big everywhere.”
Ethel’s Dad: “I always knew you were a shrinking violet.”
(Fred coughs in disagreement.)
Lucy: “Let’s get the Fathers Day cake. Come on Ethel.”
Ethel: “Ok see ya.”
Fred: “Who’s paying for it?”
Ricky: “Me and Lucy will Fred. Furdermore…”
Lucy: “Furdermore what?”
Ricky: “Did you order the cake first?”
Lucy: “No. We are going to Carvel and pick up the cake.”
Ricky: “Lucy, I thought I told you to order it first than go get it since that way, you won’t have any problems.”
Lucy: “Oh pish tosh Ricky. Nothing will happen.”
Ricky: “This I would like to see.”
(Hours later, the girls arrive home all exhausted. The boys are upset.)
Lucy: “Ricky. Ricky, before you blow your top. Yes, we went to several shops to get a cake but they were all sold out. We also had to yell at managers for closing their store at their closing time before we arrived. We had a number of issues that can only happen to us.”
(Ricky laughs. So does everyone else.)
Ricky: “Yes, it can only happen to you two. Well, let’s celebrate Dads. Time to feast on the cake.”
Fred: “Don’t eat it all Ethel.”
(Ricky laughs.)
(The end.)
