View Full Version : Morning Cup of Coffee Addiction
Caroline13 06-15-2022, 02:10 PM Talking to a pharmacist yesterday about changing my thyroid support as I'm just not feeling as I'd like to be especially once later in the day arrives...
He says there is more to why we lose energy and one can be that morning cup of coffee wears off and many go for that 3PM cup, I used to in my working days but don't anymore. So keeping that in mind I just need to deal with it, even take a little nap at that time, or maybe even start with a cup of green tea, but that's caffeine too.
The morning coffee gets me going, clears my sleepy mind and even quiets the body pain I live with. Coffee is a feel good medicine.
But I don't believe in drinking it all day or too many cups as it causes other issues, like wearing out our adrenals.
For me I go many hrs without another caffeine fix, including the rest of the day of the cup and a long night's sleep and then my next morning cup which I have not had yet and it's 11:20AM here....I could probably get off that one cup daily, but I like it and like how I feel.
Talking to a friend last night about this and she takes an older woman to her doc appts and the doc told the old woman to drink at least a 1/2 cup of caffeine in the morning. I think it helps the brain and reduces chances of memory issues.
Anyway thought I'd mention this here.:happyface
ThisLittlePiggy 06-15-2022, 04:34 PM I pretty much have to have one cup of coffee when I get up. I sometimes have a 2nd cup but more than that and I would have trouble sleeping.
I think I'd miss coffee more than food if I had to give them up.
Dude111 06-16-2022, 07:15 AM I have heard drinking Coffee isnt good,I dont remember what it said,Ill try to find it....
It smells good but doesnt taste too good :D (To me anyway)
Penny Lane 06-16-2022, 11:03 AM I have switched from coffee to Tetley Black Breakfast Tea, British Blend. I drink hot tea all day. I kind of lost my taste for coffee.I find that tea has a calming effect and seems to have enough punch to get me going in the morning. I use a teaspoon of sugar. I like it sweet, Funny thing is that I like iced tea without sugar.
Caroline13 06-16-2022, 02:05 PM Enjoying my morning addiction at 11AM, I start my day later as I sleep long and do a lot of bodywork before I get up and move around.
Love the retirement life, no more alarm clocks. That's what they were in my life of working.
Coffee. Yuck. I’d rather drink the water at Camp LeJune.

Yong Fang 10-19-2022, 01:00 PM I do not drink coffee. Mostly.
Actually I have not problem with coffee and will drink it sometimes if it available. I have drank it and it is almost like drinking alcohol. I am an alcoholic and I will drink coffee unitil "I catch a buzz" from it. Not always but if the situation is right. I and a friend drank coffee with alcohol and drank it til I felt good. I f coffee is available, I will have some starting until I do not want it. I have drank Cuban coffee in those small pots. "WOW-EE" give me more and then I walk three miles for no reason. So for short reason, coffee was there to get me high, not to wake me up.
But I dont drink coffee, as in I dont need it to wake me up. If I need to wake up in the morning, I get seven to eight hours of sleep. I never have or needed coffee to "wake me up". If I have to get up for something, I get up. I remember being at my cousin's house and he had a "blend". His habit like many was for coffee to wake him up. I just never had that habit. I just sleep seven/eight hours and wake up. Coffee does little for me waking up. Coffee to me was to drink with a friend in the morning to give me a "buzz".
I do not dislike coffee. I love the smell of it (some find it repulsive). I like it with milk (cream) and sugar. I just dont get people who cant sleep eight hours and seem to need i to wake up. To me its a drink. Like Rum and Coke. I dont need it like a daily addiction.

I think I remember you saying that you never even tried coffee, not even once. I forget what you? said about hot tea.
I love coffee. I can't imagine not having it every day with my breakfast. I usually have just one 12 oz. cup of coffee in the morning. Either 8 o'clock Colombian or the New England Blueberry are my favorites. I add one packet of Stevia and a pinch of whole milk.

Coffee is not like rum (alcohol) at all. Alcohol is a depressant and coffee is a caffeine stimulant.

Yes, I think I can honestly say I've never even had a sip of coffee. I used to do tea, but not anymore.
Do you do iced coffee or iced tea?
Caroline13 10-19-2022, 01:45 PM Brewing my cup of great coffee now and it's 10:45AM here. A nice pleasure and gets me going.
Wawwie 10-19-2022, 02:27 PM Do you do iced coffee or iced tea?I much prefer hot coffee, but I will drink iced coffee only if the weather is super hot. For tea, I prefer iced tea but I do have hot tea sometimes.
I don't know how you do it. Personally, I would go bonkers without coffee. I'm a vegetarian so a lot of people don't know how I can go without meat. Honestly, I do not miss meat at all.
