Yesterday I watched episode 6.13 "Marriage & Stuff". What I found interesting was Mike was talked about and "talked" to on the telephone. I don't know but this may have been the last time Mike was ever mentioned. As he just disappeared after the first episode of season 6. In 6.13 he was "talked" to on the telephone, of course you didn't see Mike talking the camera remained on Steve and I think Robbie "talking" to him.

But it was neat to hear of Mike now living in Arizona and "telling" all the brothers to move there with him since the father was getting married. Though the story of packing up and moving out of the house suddenly leaving everything behind including the fresh cooked meal on the table just because Steve was coming didn't make any sense at all. As any normal person would have at least talked to their father before just assuming Steve wouldn't want them in the house anymore just because he was supposedly getting married. Talk about your extreme assumptions. But it was good to see Mike still being mentioned on the show again.

Mike is mentioned again in 6.19 "Steve and the Huntress," when the boys are telling Eleanor (Terry Moore) about the family.

Yes, I agree that the reaction by the boys in the "Marriage and Stuff" episode made little if any sense, and you'd think Charley would reason things out more clearly.

He was also mentioned in an early season 7 episode. It might have been the one where the family visited Steve's little hometown. His named might not have been mentioned, though.

He was mentioned in a season 8 or 9 episode but not by name. Steve was saying something about how beautiful his first son was at birth. Four years later it happened again. Mike and Robbie were four years apart. Robbie is more than four years older than Chip.

I think I remember that. Steve was talking to Robbie and made that reference.

I guess they were relying on "out of sight, out of mind".

They really dumped him. I'm in season 8 and a lady asked if the picture was the "whole family" and Steve said "yes". And he started saying he had 3 boys instead of 3 "at home"

Its like they hated him and once he was gone they moved on. He could have easily been kept as part of the show with the occasional letter or phone call where nobody saw his face.
At least they did not replace him.

Yes by Season 8 he didn't exist anymore which was so disrespectful. He could have come back for Robbie's wedding or at least be mentioned.

I prefer rather than believing the retcon, I just imagine for some reason off screen Steve disowned Mike and they stopped talking. The family knew it was a sensitive topic and didn't bring Mike up.

We need to keep in mind that these seasons originally were years apart. When binge watching now, the time of Tim Considine's departure does not seem so distant in relation to the seasons that introduced new characters like Katie and Barbara -- but, the series had just moved on.

Anyway, Tim and also Meredith MacRae were invited to participate in the 1977 reunion show -- and they accepted -- so at least we have some semblance of closure in that regard.

There was some inconsistency in the first color season (6), also. Outside the church after Mike's wedding Steve says something about Mike accepting a job "back East."

A few episode later, when the family thought Steve had married without consulting them, plans were being made for Chip and Ernie to live with Mike and Sally in (I think) Arizona.

Bryant Park is generally considered to be in a mid-west state like Iowa or such and the term "Back east", especially then, usually meant NYC.

No he was talking to Katie not Robbie. Never mentioned them by name though! Before that someone asked if the picture was his "whole family" and he said yes.
