"At the beginning of the season, I was like 'I'm done.' I can't do it," Che said in a wide-ranging interview Wednesday with Howard Stern. "I'm finished. I'm finished. And no one kind of believes it." Che said he kept saying telling everybody he was leaving -- so much so that he convinced himself that he was exiting, even saying it on stage, resulting in headlines that he was planning to leave. Che said he walked back his comment so he wouldn't be a distraction. Ultimately, Che said he and Lorne Michaels spoke and the SNL boss offered to give him more time away from the show, which resulted in him staying. Meanwhile, Che said he won't believe that Pete Davidson, Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant and Kyle Mooney have left SNL (https://twitter.com/sternshow/status/1534680667870609409) until they actually leave. “I don’t believe them until I see the credits change," he says. Che also recalled his “Wet Coma” and “California Raisins” sketches that never made air (https://twitter.com/sternshow/status/1534647682874150912).
