When a new actor takes over playing a character, I always wonder if the other characters within the reality of the tv show see that person any differently?
Like when Dick Sargent takes over as Darrin.... are Samantha, Tabitha, Larry, and the other characters.... STILL seeing Dick York? Or were the other characters seeing Dick Sargent all along from the very beginning? When continuity changes in a TV show, I always tend to go with the LATEST version we get since that's when you see the BIG PICTURE of everything.... if that's the case that means Darrin has ALWAYS looked like Dick Sargent to the other characters from the very beginning

What about Mrs. Kravitz...did anyone notice her new slight Bronx accent?
A book by Walter Mertz ("TV Milestone Series: Bewitched") does address the Darrin issue from a certain perspective. He speculates the remake of York episodes was a way to say York's Darrin never existed.
But I think the intent was it's the same "Darrin" to everyone. Someone of the cast/production team (can't remember who) said one day it was "Hi sweetheart" to York and the next it was "Hi sweetheart" to Sargent with no change intended.

Yes, I'm pretty sure the other characters don't see a difference, but it makes me wonder HOW they are seeing Darrin. As York or Sargent or some place in the middle maybe lol
And yeah Mrs. Kravitz is an even more extreme example because those 2 actresses look NOTHING alike and even have different personalities. At least there is SORTA a resemblance between York and Sargent... as a child watching the show, I didn't notice the change when Sargent took over. Earlier Mrs Kravitz you sorta felt sorry for, it seems she was victimized to an extent, she could just be minding her own business and see something odd, report it and made out to be crazy. But later Mrs. Kravitz was almost an instigator in a way. She would intentionally stick her nose in where it doesn't belong and just KEEP pushing and pushing demanding to know things that were none of her business.
I wondered the same with Mary Poppins in the new movie... Jane and Michael instantly recognized her, and I wondered were they still seeing Julie Andrews, OR were they seeing Emily Blunt in the first movie? lol

That certainly helps explain things. Nice story. I tend to think the change was foretold in Aunt Clara's book of spellees and Samantha knew it. She read what the spell was but wouldn't tell Darrin what it really was (in season 2 - "We're in for a Bad Spell"):
CLARA: Have you got to Darrin's name yet?
DARRIN: My name? My name is in there?
SAMANTHA: Now, just a minute. Yes, here it is. Right there. See?
DARRIN: Oh, well, what does it say?
SAMANTHA: It says you're going to marry a witch and live happily ever after.
DARRIN: Does it really say that?
SAMANTHA: No. But it's true. I'm a witch, and I know.

I thought about that from that episode too, but the witches didn't seem to notice any changes in any of the mortals, which you think they would had it been a witch's spell (rather than a wood nymph's).

Unless that was part of the spell too because the witches did put spells on each other all the time. They were a vindictive bunch at times...I figure Endora probably blew up Mrs. Kravitz one time but wasn't as good at bringing her back as Maurice was with Darrin. She came back a bit different.
