The show made its debut on Monday, Sept 20, 1976 at 9:30pm on CBS
The show competed with Monday Night Football on ABC and Dick Van Dyke and Company on NBC
After the first airing, the show was ranked #36 out of 61 TV shows. The ranking was higher than Maude(#42) and Rhoda(#44)
After the 2nd episode, the show was reported to be in trouble since it fell from 36th to 55.
By the end of October, the show made a huge leap to #17.
By November the show was in the top ten behind......NBC's Gone with the Wind, CBS Waltons, ABC Charlie Angels, Maude and ABC Bionic Women
In December of 1976 the show was in the top 20.
Toward the end of January1977, the show ranked #26, higher than Bob Newhart(#32), Rhoda(#34) and Alice (#35)
Ratings fell again in the spring and CBS cancelled the show in May of 1977
