Yes I know we all love the original Gidget, but does anyone out there remember the update in the '80s too?

I vaguely remember watching it. I know that it ran in the late 80's and it aired in first run syndication. I think it ran on saturday afternoons were I live.

Yes I watched the new Gidget. The WB's doing a remake of Family Affair, I wonder if anyone will ever do an updated version of Gidget. It's still pretty popular.

I hope not. The first Gidget made its impact on TV and that should of been it. It was a fair tv show ahead of its time and it just wouldnt work today I think. :)

I agree. Sally Field is the original Gidget, and she should have remained as the one and only.

Anyway, I've seen The New Gidget, and I didn't care for it much.

Remember "The New Gidget" - I acted in it. I was featured as in the 2 hour pilot "Gidget's Summer Reunion" and was the too cool "Brad" in the "large Marge" episode and a surfer in another and a security guard in another (all with lines). It was a fun show to work on and before you dis it too much - remember that the exec. producer of the original "Gidget", Harry Ackerman, was the Exec. Prod. of the "New" - so at least there was a good attempt at continuity. It ran for a couple of years and was the last show produced by Harry Ackerman (Bewitched, The Flying Nun, Dennis the Menace, etc.).

Peter Ackerman (yes, related)

Hey, nice to read about you and have you posting here. Like many of us, I appreciate and enjoy lots of Harry's work and am glad I have gotten to see a lot of them again on TV Land. Of course Gidget is a big favorite of mine!

Question...seeing as I have an "insider" here now ;-), I'm wondering if you know the answer to my "eternal" question...what happened to Betty Conner after Gidget ended? Is she still with us today?

I think Sandra Dee was the original Gidget.
