Since Sony Pictures Home Entertainment released "Grady" on DVD (as a manufacture on demand [MOD] title) last year, will the other two "Sanford and Son" spinoffs--"Sanford" and "Sanford Arms"--ever see the light of day as DVD releases, be it traditional or MOD? I know they're both treated with disdain and disgust by "Sanford and Son" aficionados, but they still deserve to released on DVD.
Drop me a line...I'd love to hear from you! Enjoy your evening!

Sanford and Son (at least the first four seasons) ranks among my all time favorite shows. Sanford was a worthy follow I'd purchase if available and not outrageously expensive. I am fan of Alice's early seasons and would gladly purchase the later ones but they are too pricey for their mediocre quality.

Sanford Arms doesn;t need to be on DVD since it only lasted a month and on you tube.
Sanford would be cool to see on DVD

I agree about Sanford Arms. It wasn’t very good. But I would like to see Sanford on DVD. If they don’t screw it up like they did Grady. Grady was way to expensive for what little was on there and they left out an episode. I still don’t have that one.

How much was Grady? And yes they left out the episode when Esther, Bubba and Grady made a guest appearance:o

I'd like to see both come to DVD like Grady did. And maybe there were clearance problems with the Christmas episode and that's why they didn't include it. On the other hand, Sony's never really done great DVD releases in general.

$30. Way too much for only nine measly episodes and it’s not even complete.

Was it even explained why the 1 episode was left out? And I would have paid $50 if the episode was included with esther, bubba and woody

Well it makes no sense why this would be $30 when I paid just $25 for the complete series of Sanford and Son.

Probably because it was so rare and never aired on cable. Well 1 episode was aired on cable in August of 2002 but that's it

Sanford definitely needs a DVD release as it has done well for BET when they aired the reruns both in the early 1990s and in the late 2000s. It would be smart to put both shows on the DVD with some extras such as talking with surviving cast members. Dennis and Redd are both dead along with Percy. It could be assumed Cathy Cooper and Margarite Ray are as well as they both disappeared in the 80s from TV. So, Clifton Derricks Carroll could be interviewed. In regards to Sanford Arms, there's a rumor that the son is dead. No one has verified it but most of the Fred's friends are deceased as well.

Thanks for commenting, GSU2004! It's a crying shame that many of the cast members from "Sanford and Son," "Sanford Arms," and "Sanford" are now deceased, save for Demond Wilson, Nathaniel "Rollo" Taylor, Gregory "Julio" Sierra, Hal "Smitty" Williams, Howard "Hoppy" Platt, Lynn "Donna" Hamilton, Raymond "Uncle Woody" Allen, Norma Miller (Dolly Wilson on "Sanford Arms") Tina Andrews (Angie Wheeler from "Sanford Arms"), Eric Laneuville (Daniel, Aunt Esther and Uncle Woody's adoptive son), Marlene Clark (Janet Lawson) and Clifton Derricks-Carroll (Cliff Anderson, Aunt Esther's son from "Sanford").
As for the rest of Redd's co-stars...LaWanda "Aunt Esther" Page, Whitman "Grady" Mayo, Don "Bubba" Bexley, Pat "Ah Chew" Morita, Theodore Wilson (Phil Wheeler from "Sanford Arms"), Leroy "Lucky Leroy" Daniels, Ernest "Skillet" Mayhand, and Noam "Swanny" Pitnik are all deceased.
According to IMdb, Cathy Cooper's (she played Evelyn's maid Clara on "Sanford" during its first season) last credit was in 1982, so it's safe to assume that she's probably dead. And Marguerite Ray's (Evelyn Lewis on "Sanford") last credit was in 2001, but it's uncertain if she's still alive. Suzanne Stone's (Cissy Lewis, Evelyn's daughter on "Sanford" during season one) last credit was in 1999, so my best guess is that she's still alive.
