Letterkenny creator and star Jared Keeso's spinoff of his foul-mouthed hooligan character for Canada's Crave, which is now available on Hulu, actually works, says Daniel Fienberg. "Sure, it’s coarse and repetitive, but that’s absolutely what the character’s fans will crave and, as the six-episode season progresses, it finds unexpected ways to turn Shoresy into somebody worthy of sustained attention. It isn’t quite Brockmire, the recent pinnacle of spinning off a one-joke character with human nuance, but in its very best moments, you can see how the blueprints for the two comedies might have been similar."

Shoresy is the anti-Ted Lasso (https://www.tvguide.com/news/shoresy-letterkenny-spinoff-hulu-review/): "Yes, he's still a verbal avalanche of 'your mom' jokes and profanities in the same vein of Letterkenny's famously frenetic dialogue, but with all six episodes centered solely on Shoresy and the hockey team, this show is more focused and full of character development than Letterkenny ever was," says Tim Surette. "The premise is simple: He's putting together a team of washed-up vets to save his squad, the Sudsbury Bulldogs, from folding from a semi-pro hockey league (the NoSho) somewhere in the Great North. It's a traditional underdog sports story, but with the irascible Shoresy up front as the de facto player-coach, it's the anti-Ted Lasso, a nice slap of reality and a wake-up call from Apple's feel-good sugary fairy tale."
