There was a show with Telma Hopkins, Cindy Williams, Merlin Santana, Deon Richmond, Nicki Vannice, and Ashleigh Blair Sterling called "Getting By" that aired on both ABC and, later, NBC. Two families (one Caucasian and one African-American) shared the same house.
There had earlier been a show called "A New Kind of Family" on ABC with Eilenn Brennan, Rob Lowe, Lauri Hendler, David Hollander, Gwynne Gifford, Connie Ann Hearn, Telma Hopkins (again), Janet Jackson, and Chuck McCann. In this, two familes shared the same house. The two families were originally Caucasian, but the second family was dropped and an African-American widow and her daughter moved in.
Was "Getting By" a revamped version of "A New Kind of Family?"
