What did you think of the Rerun Show?

It's kinda hard to put it into words for me. It was very funny but it was also insulting to the show and and all of the characters.

Ditto. I thought it was funny, but I didn't like how they made fun of the actors, like having mug shots of them on the wall and having 'Willis' reading the Playboy issue with Dana Plato. I thought that was mean to do, especially to Dana since she's not alive to say anything about it, and since all of the actors have cleaned up their acts.

Well, as I've said in another post on the General board- it was.....different. I guess it would've been boring if they did the script word for word, but it was still an odd experience. It was odd, but different. Okay, I think I'm speechless on this one so I'm just going to send this post on its way.

I would have to say it was okay.....wasn't really what I had expected. I think it reminded me of something you would see on "Saturday Night Live" or "MadTV" in a way. I think it would have been better if they had not put the cast members pictures on the steps and had the article about Dana in Playboy. I also believe they could have made the set look more like the original set. Willis and Arnold's room looked nothing like the original. The living room looked a little like the original, but still very different. I also didn't like the kitchen either. It didn't look like a pinthouse at all. At least Saturday Night Live and MadTV try and make the sets look somewhat close to the original.

I thought it was so hilarious, but also, very disrespectful to the actors. I can't really comment on the Partridge family one, since I've never been a huge fan of that show. Anyway, i thought it was funny, but disrespectful. And did they REALLY have to have Lurlene and Willis in bed, I mean, Lurlene was supposed to be 11! LOL. And they REALLY tramped up Kimberly and Lurlene, and even Willis was a cad, Mr. D was a horndog, smacking Willis' butt and taking pics of a scantily clad Kimberly/"Dana". I missed the mugshots of the old actors on the wall stairs. I just thought how they treated Dana/Kimberly was so awful. But hey, it's 2002 and TV just isn't like it used to be. It will be VERY interesting to see the FOL one next week.

Well.........judging by most of everybody's comments, I'm kinda glad I missed it. I heard Gary and Todd will make cameos, I'm happy they cleaned up their life and can joke about it, but too bad Dana can't because, well...........she's dead. She had a very sad, pitiful, and tragic life and they're ridiculing it. It's sad the people who are behind the Rerun show don't care to think about that or how others close to Dana might feel, like Tyler. If they're going to make fun of the show, make fun of the show and the characters, not the actors. It's like making fun of Chico and Man and doing a scene where a guy is playing Freddie Prinze and trying to kill himself, I don't see the humor.....

I'm glad I missed it as well. I thought it was just going to be making fun of the characters and not the actors themselves. They showed the actual mugshots? Shame, shame.

It was also kinda disrespectful to Gary also. With the can of soda, the pencil, and the candy. Everything was huge when Arnold had it and evrything was small when somebody else had it.

Yup, ditto to that, Sean. That was terrible. And actually, I didn't even find it funny. I got bored halfway through the thing.

Yeah. It was funny at first, but really insulting to Gary. There is nothing wrong with small people... I'm one myself and I'm proud of it! ;)

I enjoyed it a lot. You've got to take everything with a grain of salt.

I didn't see it but according to what you all have said, it sounds like cheap thrills, insulting junk to me. I just don't see how hard it can be to write a funny script without resorting to taking pot shots at Dana. Is disrespect not even a word in their vocabulary?

Nope, the episode of The Partridge Family that was remade was called Keith and Lauriebelle which aired in the fourth season on March 2, 1974.

As for The Rivals it's from the 2nd season and aired on December 5, 1979.

If they made fun of the cast then it does sound like it was just rubbish, although I can't properly comment because I didn't see it.

I thought it was funny, but disrespectful. I'm glad the casts of the other shows they are doing didn't have problems. The funniest elements of the DS one were Mrs. Garrett ignoring Kimberly when she fell on the floor, and the way they made fun of Mr. Drummond's voice. "Lurleen's heeeer!"
