Believe me when I say I'm feeling less than thrilled about going back to school. I have to go back Tuesday, for enrollment...then Aug 14 is the first day for teachers. The students start back Aug. 19. Summer was waaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy too short!:crying: Not to mention that tonight (in about 5 minutes actually), the school board is voting on whether or not to approve the new teacher contracts. If they turn down our employment demands, I'll have to go back without an approved contract, which means I'll be working for nothing(No Money). Ugh! Hey if they do that, you can go back to work but only on days you feel like it. they cant say they are paying you to come cuz theyre not. so it would be like volunteering to go whenever you felt like it. LOL! Unfortunately it doesn't work that way...they can say they are paying me, because they will eventually. In this state it is against the law for teachers to strike because we are considered public servants, and what we do, or do not do has an impact on society in general. One year we didn't have an approved contract until November. They paid us until then based on the previous pay scale, and then when the new contracts were approved we got a lump sum payment right before Chirstmas, which was sort of nice, but I could have used it before. Oh well, I'm rambling now...so I'll just shut up! Brian 08-03-2002, 03:59 PM Already? At least I don't live in Atlanta. But San Diego school districts are so ******** today. They start school two weeks before September. On top of that, they don't allow a lot of time for Summer break. They used to start school in September and parents have been complaining about it but they don't listen. The only good thing is that students get a lot of days off from school during the school year.
