Taylor Sheridan is celebrating his 52nd birthday. After working as an actor, primarily on television, for two decades, Sheridan emerged as a new screenwriting talent in 2015, when he wrote the script for the acclaimed crime thriller Sicario.
A year later, Sheridan was nominated for a long list of Best Original Screenplay honors. Hell or High Water, directed by David Mackenzie, was also a Best Picture nominee at the Oscars and Golden Globes.
Sheridan was born and grew up in rural Texas. He dropped out of Texas State University to pursue an acting career. Making his debut on an episode of Walker, Texas Ranger in 1995, he built a long resume of TV guest roles. He appeared in the recurring roles of Danny Boyd on Veronica Mars and David Hale on Sons of Anarchy.
In 2017, Sheridan made his feature directing debut with the thriller Wind River, which he also wrote. He received a DGA Award nomination for Outstanding First-Time Feature Film. Last year he directed his second feature, Those Who Wish Me Dead, adapted from Michael Koryta’s novel. He also has written the screenplays for Sicario: Day of the Soldado and Without Remorse.
Sheridan has also become a television presence. In 2018, he created the modern Western drama Yellowstone, recently renewed for a fifth season. Last year, he added two new series to his resume, the limited series 1883, a Yellowstone prequel, and the crime series Mayor of Kingstown.
Sheridan has several upcoming projects, primarily TV series in varying stages of development. They include 1932, which is another Yellowstone prequel, and Tulsa King, a crime drama slated to star Sylvester Stallone.
