Here's another mischievous situation by one of our "young fine talents."

~Spears ends tour abruptly

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) -- Britney Spears ended her world tour on a controversial note by cutting short her final show in Mexico City on Sunday night, adding insult to injury after she made an obscene gesture upon arrival here last week. The 20-year-old pop princess sang four songs in the last show of her Pepsi-sponsored world tour, but during the set's fifth song, "Stronger," Spears apologized, saying "I'm sorry Mexico. I love you. Bye," and left the stage, Mexico City daily Milenio reported. Boos and jeers rained down on the stage when a public announcement asked fans to leave the Foro Sol stadium. Some concert-goers began throwing the pop diva's paraphernalia and chanting "fraud, fraud," the newspaper reported. Concert organizers could not be reached for comment, and it was not immediately clear if another show would be scheduled or if fans would receive a refund. Mexico City was the last leg of a so-called world tour in the United States and Canada.

Spears, who rocketed to fame with her 1998 hit "Baby, one more time," spent less than a week in Mexico City, but attracted plenty of attention during her visit. The pop star was caught by cameras extending her middle finger in a universally recognized insult after she arrived last Tuesday night at an airport in Toluca, some 40 miles (65 km) from Mexico City. Spears later said the gesture was an angry response to paparazzi, who she said nearly caused a wreck with her vehicle.~

This just goes to show how fame and power changes some young pop stars.

That is one thing I find sick about fame. Some people in the music and film business, not all but some, have tons of money and they blow it on all these fancy clothes and expensive furniture and housing and meanwhile there are children in countries like Africa who are dying and no-one who has money like Britney Spears and lots of other famous people does anything about it. Why would anyone want to buy a $21000 toilet seat, anyway? Wouldn't a regular priced toilet seat be enough for a person?

Yeah, I read that the other night on Star magazine and the National Enq.'s websites. Brit blames it on the thunderstorms. You have got to be kidding me! 21,000 for a toilet???????! What would Archie Bunker say? lol

She was probably very stressed out doing a world tour. And if your a big fan like those "fans" are soppose to be you would understand and not be booing someone.

You try to keep her hectic schedule and have so many people critisize you like some of the people on this thread and see how you deal with it. You wouldn't last a day. I would have cussed out those people if I were her. No one should be treated like that.

It is sad when so many people are jealous of you. Poor Britney.

I do not like Britney Spears. I don't know her or know if what the media says is true about her, but I just don't like her. The main reason is because I'm jealous. I would like to have her life like all the money & fame.

I don't hate Brittany Spears. I just completely disagree with almost everything she does. She came in talking about her virginity and faith and now she's blown it all out of the water. My personal opinion is that she is a bad influence on younger girls...

Omg!!!!

I can't believe Britney. What happened to that girl? When she first came out, she was all cute and bubbly and happy and stuff! Now? Ok I'll admit something...i was really, really, REALLY obsessed with her like 3 years ago, so i know some stuff about her like:

-She made a camp for disavantaged kids called "The Britney Spears Foundation"
-She liked talking to her fans before concerts
-She loved MEETING fans
-She takes her little sister shopping
-She bought her family a new house

And also when 9/11 happened i heard she donated money to families. And also, she collected toys at one of her concerts and gave them to poor kids.

BUT I GUESS THINGS CHANGE!

in britneys defense there was a thunderstorm rumored for that nite and if fans act that way, who cares if she gives them the middle finger. i dont get why so many people hate her. yeah i dont really listen to her music, but i dont insult her cos plainly im better than that.i have better things to worry about then britney spears and her "fake" boobs.

True artists, no matter how tired or stressed out they might be, have a responsability to their fans. If it weren't for her fans, she wouldn't be as rich and powerful as she is today. She is getting paid (maybe I should've said overpaid) to do a performance and she has to fulfill that responsabilty. I think since it was the last performance of her tour, she figured, "The f*** with this sh**, I'm going home." Now, that's not the attitude of a true artist. Is it?

BTW, she did not throw the finger at her fans. She threw it to the photographers and reporters that met her at her arrival.

LOL... Ya i agree. I really kinda hate britney and her music and her bubblieness but i dont think its her fault teenagers want too look sexy. They were doing it long before she was around, and will for all eternity... or until the world explodes. And I don't undertsnad why everyone is freaking over her giving the finger. Everyone I know does it all the time. Its not even bad anymore you have an argument with your freind, you give eachother the finger, you get over it, and your freinds again. God I do worse stuff than britany. lol. Everyone says shes a bad influence because she has a LITTLE tatto and a bad old belly ring. Oh ya, real bad, as if people didnt have weird piercings and tattoos before she was around. And BTW you have to admit, implants or not, she probably has a better body than you. I hate her but i dont blame her for buying an expansive toilet seat. Oh and btw how many of you donate your savings to those 10 dollar charities? How many of you do that 85 cents a month sponsor a child thing. Yeah, you all should really be talking.

wow u people have serious issues with Britney Spears. Just cos u dont like her music doesnt mean she deserves disrespect. i respect or any less knowledge as a artist. If it was Kid Rock who acted this way, then no one would care. Its not exactly her fault for being a role model and if she sets a bad example... go her! madonna is a sex symbol and a role model.... let it go...

ks
08-03-2002, 05:44 PM
She's aware that she is a role model. When you become a popular public figure you're going to eventually become a role model, whether it be to one person or thousands. I would just hope she would care about the example she sets for people, because IMO it's not a great one. It ranges from the way she dresses to her music videos.
As for her spending that much cash on a toilet seat, she can do what she wants with it. Shooting a bird to people and what not I'm not too big on, and NO, not every person has ever shot a bird or cussed someone out.
Alot of people may dress, talk, and act the way she does, but not all those people have thousands of girls looking up to them.

It's just all fouled up.

Sorry to intrude but a while ago I didn't like Britney Spears. But then I realized I know nothing about her. I have watched old episodes of the mickey Mouse club from when she was on plus I just watched something about Britney and I have alot of respect for her. She's worked hard to get to the top and I admire that about people. People can be so material that money and being a sex icon is what people like in a rolemodel. She's still growing up and she's done that with people crowding her, writing all this crap about her. I also think if parents took time to talk to their kids it would help plus teenagers are also doing this stuff. Shouldn't they know right from wrong? You can't blame one person for the actions of others. If Mary jumped off a bridge I think the lamb would forget about it and stay where it was by common sense. People grow and decide to express themselves by dressing the way they do. Marilyn Manson does alot of freaky stuff and people want to be just like him. People don't jump all over him like Britney and sometimes I think it's just not fair. But life isn't fair, fun, games etc etc etc. Right? But she's one of my rolemodels in an odd list of people. She's worked hard to get to the top, jumped over hurdles and survivided the tabloids. I admire that in someone. But anywho I'm out.

"But why did she stop the concert?"

They stopped her concert b/c lighting hit the stage, and its made up of all metal, and it was an out door arena.

THe mexican press are all a bunch of a**es. I don't like the girl, but i felt really bad for her. Esp. since when they showed footage of how bad it was raining and how wet the stage was, and her show producers didnt want her to do it, but she felt bad cancelling it, so they went on for as long as they could. After 2 dancers fell off the stage, and the ligtening hit, they had to cancell it.

Read this:

~Spears' papa packs pistol

(CNN) -- Britney Spears' father pulled a gun out while four teenage girls drove onto his property on July 14, the Times-Picayune newspaper reports.
"I certainly didn't expect Britney Spears' father to pull a gun on us," one fan named Erica said. When Times-Picayune reporter Chris Rose later asked Jamie Spears about the incident he replied, "They were in my driveway."
He continued, "I carry a gun with me. I keep it right here," and gestured toward his carport. "And I'd have pulled one on you, too, if I didn't have company. If I'm alone and you come in my driveway, come on my property, that's what I'm going to do."
Spears argued that death threats and thousands of fans stopping by the house are what justify his action.
"He was really angry," another teenage fan Beth said. "He was really scary."
"I had never seen a gun pulled in anger before," said Erica. "And I never thought that if it happened to me it would be Britney Spears' dad."~

Boy, where will it end?

*Marilyn Monroe*

OK, the only thing that I dont like about Britney is that, when she started this WHOLE thing, she was a sweet, good natured girl who was a self proclaimed virgin and loved meeting fans. When she said that she wished she'd never said the virgin thing, you knew that she wasnt...anyways...back to the kind of topic. Now, she dresses like a slut and moved in with her then-boyfriend, and then expects us to believe that she's just the same little girl from Kentucky? I dont think so.

And about the whole flipping off thing. She kind of had the right to. I mean, if they were about to cause an accident, I would too. And someone said soemthing about her being tired and wanting to go home during the concert. Even though we know that's not completely true now, if she was, she wasnt supposed to have cancelled it. If she's tired, maybe she should take a break, which is what I thought she was doing. And when she even thought about being famous, did she not think people would jump down her throat once and a while? I admit, she's gotten more than her share of it, but still...it was her choice to be in the music business, whatever the consequences. Besides...she lied to the press, straight out, about her and Justin going out, her and Justin breaking up, and the boob thing. (That one is still questionable.)

I just dont like that, and the fact that she doesnt write a lot of her music. That's all!

Yep, I read that story over at Star magazine too. It's been an overhaul of Brit stories at those tabloid sites.

I realize that nobody is perfect. Some people just act differently. She shoots birds and acts like a stripper. If I was in her place, I wouldn't necessarily be stripping but probably cursing like a sailor. (Triple an Osbourne episode and you'll get the idea of how bad I am sometimes) Neither one of us is perfect in that sense.

I may not like Britney all that much, but its hero worshipping. Remember the 80's? You had all the Madonna fans dressing up like her. I guess its just the same today except its with Britney.

Yeah, I kind of get the sense of the whole "Pretender" thing. Yeah, I'm a virgin blah blah blah when Brit hit it big. But if you really think about it, if she didn't say that and brought all the stripping and stuff out when the bubble gum pop stuff was climbing- people wouldn't like her. "She's a whore. We aren't buying that stuff!" Britney is doing just like Madonna did. Madonna went through her phases. When Britney hits 40 or has a few kids, she'll calm down.

Thats from the enquirer, need I say more. You should get your facts straight. Even if it is true(which its not, according to "Jamie Spears") he has every right to react like that, esp. after all the death threats they get/break in's. Someone stole their dog for god sakes.

And I think some of you need to be fans of music, not their personal lives: celebs. are people too.

God everyones so weird "Omg she curses and dresses slutty!" dude, she's not 13 and not on the micky mouse club anymore. Im telling you my cuzin is that age and alot of her friends dress somewhat slutty and have their belly buttons pierced. People don't understand shes a performer. She dresses that way on stage because she's performing... And you all know its hard to dance like her... Whether it looks slutty or not it requires taking lots of dance classes, and spending time practicing. Shes old enough now to make her own descisions, she's old enough to say the big bad "f" word once in a while and shes old enough to give someone the finger and she's also old enough to have sex. Seriously who cares if she's a virgin? You know damn well most 19 and 20 year olds out there aren't. The only reason you pick on her is because she's rich and famouse and you're not. Really... I dont know why you care. She can live her own life now she's a grown up.
"Now, she dresses like a slut and moved in with her then-boyfriend, and then expects us to believe that she's just the same little girl from Kentucky? "

Actually, she's trying to prove she's an adult... Obviously it isn't working.

Obviously you weren't paying much attention back in 1994-1996ish, back when he was HUGE. I've heard alot more flak over Marilyn Manson than I have ever heard over Britney Spears.

Anywayz, who says she wants little 10 year old creeps screaming at her concerts, and posing off of her? God man, if I KNEW I was a role model, I wouldn't like ****ing change just so littleeee 10 year olds wouldn't act like me.....It's not HER fault they like her, right? hah.

No, it is not her fault. And if she doesn't want to change, that is certainly her perogative. However, if she takes that stance, then she should not be surprised or angry when the press skewers her for it.

That said, I'm sure that Britney gets more than her fair share of bad press. It's unfortunate for her, but it has happened to others in the past as well. And it's not like she's completely without recourse. If the press is printing lies she has a right to pursue them legally for slander and seek damages. Most stars who have followed this route have been left alone by the press.

But I think we should all remember this: $21,000 toilets notwithstanding, vast amounts of wealth are wasted and squandered away every day by thousands upon thousands of people, most of which we probably have never even heard of. It IS right to get angry about it, but if you must direct your anger at the very-visible Miss Spears, just bear in mind there alot more millionaires out there not giving their money to starving Africans as well. And at least Britney comes by her money honestly-whether you like the music or respect the artist-she's not an Enron CEO or someone manipulating and using others to make money.

It all makes me think of the talks of baseball strikes, or the hullabulu over the Friends stars each making a million per episode. The baseball players and the Friends actors get the brunt of public anger because they are the most visible; but I say more power to them, because behind every TV star who makes a million, there is a network making 20 times that off endorsements for their show, and behing every baseball player making a million there are owners and commisoners making more than the gross national product of some countries.

It's all about perspective...and some people need to get some.

Well... If I were famous I must say... I'd act even worse just to annoy parents. Id put out a seemingly harmless single, lure in the small children, then like smash amps at my concerts and yell at the audience and curse and make obscene gestures! Wouldn't that be fun!!!

"New Rising star "Dana", whos style of music is between punk and alternative, Sets a bad example for young children at her concert at the PNC bank arts center by screaming the "f" word several times and "flipping off" the audience twice. A spokesperson claims that Danas music was not intended for young audiences and contains many innapropriate words, which are edited out on the radio, which may have been why there was a misconception about her. However, many people claim Dana herslef, told them she did it because she wanted parents to hate her. Afterwards at her album signing she continued cursing and being innapropriate. Since that event, one month ago, record sales have skyrocketed." Nat'l Enquirer, June 2009.

It's my life dream. Ya, I know I'm abnormal.

Are you sure we don't live in the same town? That sounds like something that would be printed here.

The last big controversy we had here was when they destroyed a park in order to put in a Super Walmart.

Jinny Girl, consider yourself lucky. Alot of people would give anything to live in a small town. The way you describe your town, it sounds like it's real tranquil and with lots of woods. As a matter of fact, I would love to live in a town like that. If you have lived all your life there, I understand why you would want to move out. But I think you're not missing out on anything. Big cities have lots more problems than small towns. Crime, violence, just to mention a few. I don't know how old you are, but if you're young, I can understand why you want to live in a big city. If that's the case, you can venture into it when you're old enough. In the mean time, enjoy your peaceful town while you can.

People who live in the city wish they would live in the country and vice versa. Go figure.

I like crime and violence. My problem is the animal control people (aka roadkill d00ds) have like 1 pickup truck servicing 5 countys. Since our town is small and forgotten, during the summer they leave deer (usually theres two on the mean road with various small animals) there for about 2 or 3 months. Ones face fell off and you could see in, and one turned to dirt, and a roccon rotted completely... I have this fear of rotting animals, you imagine driving past something your'e afraid of day in and day out. And we have such a deer overpopulation problem that they have to hire sharpshooters to kill them. My cousin hit on and it smashed her widnshield in. My mom almost hit one (the same deer... Ya i know weirdness) 5 times in one week. I mean ya it's "peaceful" and "pretty" with all that wildlife but its gets in the way. I got attacked by a rabbid squirell once, and packs of wild dogs used to come by my house alot (for some reason they dont) but you imagine going out to school walking out the door and being greeted with seven put bulls sitting in the driveway.
