I enjoy the podcast. I loved listening to it and then Robin's pod while I mowed my lawn last summer and will get back at it this summer. RE: Chelsea Small -- i'm sure they checked it out but it seems to me that if it was a person targeted rather than just a robbery, it was likely the person who's shift she covered. They didn't seem to delve into that so much. alistaircranium 05-25-2022, 01:48 PM I enjoy the podcast. They didn't seem to delve into that so much. I thought the same thing. But at the same time, you’d think a hitman would be provided with a photo of their target. alistaircranium 06-01-2022, 12:53 PM The newest episode is an update on “The Girl with the ‘S’ Tattoo”. alistaircranium 06-08-2022, 08:01 AM Today’s episode, A Mother’s Nightmare, is now available. alistaircranium 06-15-2022, 07:11 AM “Murder in Boystown” is available now. ghosthouse 06-15-2022, 07:44 AM Today’s episode, A Mother’s Nightmare, is now available. Half way thru this one i was kind of taken back, realizing that the children have been missing for almost 40 years. That's a long time for even small details to surface. Kind of hard to believe his parent's haven't been charged with anything. alistaircranium 06-15-2022, 01:22 PM Half way thru this one i was kind of taken back, realizing that the children have been missing for almost 40 years. I think the grandparents must be dead by now. alistaircranium 06-17-2022, 03:47 PM The current episode was a pretty depressing choice for Pride Month. I hope they’re able to get more leads on Fernando. alistaircranium 06-22-2022, 07:55 AM “Condo Killings” is now available. On a side note, I hope we get more paranormal cases soon. We’ve only had one so far this season. alistaircranium 06-29-2022, 07:59 AM “Mystery at Hobble Creek Canyon” is the name of today’s episode. Those who aren’t listening to the podcast are really missing out on good Unsolved content! ghosthouse 06-29-2022, 08:08 AM “Mystery at Hobble Creek Canyon” is the name of today’s episode. Those who aren’t listening to the podcast are really missing out on good Unsolved content! Agreed -- they have found some fascinating stories for the podcast, esp early this second season. I am always a little behind because I save them for the weekend, but the Condo Killings episode was very interesting. When cops say they have to hold back information for investigative purposes it always gets my curiousity running wild...so I'd love to know the details behind the killer(s) staying in the house for like 6 hours after the crime so they could rearrange the home and muddle up the crime scene. Very weird and very interesting. alistaircranium 06-29-2022, 06:14 PM Agreed -- they have found some fascinating stories for the podcast, esp early this second season. Very weird and very interesting. That was a frustrating one. It was like reading a declassified but still highly redacted document. The culprit has got to be someone who had a personal grudge against them. alistaircranium 07-06-2022, 10:09 AM The hauntings have returned! The Winward Family’s Ghosts are here!!! :ufo: alistaircranium 07-13-2022, 01:24 PM “Slayings in Syosset” is available now. sdb4884 07-14-2022, 10:14 PM Very interesting case but very little information to come from it sadly. alistaircranium 07-20-2022, 08:45 AM “Killing Karen” is out now. alistaircranium 07-20-2022, 06:24 PM Has anyone else found that some of this season’s cases are just not all that mysterious? Several cases have a prominent suspect but no hard evidence to bring about charges. It’s good that this podcast shines a new light on these cold cases. I just don’t think that they necessarily meet the “mystery” part of Unsolved Mysteries. MediaHoarder 07-20-2022, 06:49 PM Has anyone else found that some of this season’s cases are just not all that mysterious? Several cases have a prominent suspect but no hard evidence to bring about charges. It’s good that this podcast shines a new light on these cold cases. I just don’t think that they necessarily meet the “mystery” part of Unsolved Mysteries. Honestly I think that is reflective of the podcast genre of "true crime" more broadly. Many of the podcasts I have listened to seemed to be more about prosecuting someone than exploring really mysterious cases. I don't know why this is, but I suspect it has to do with the over-saturation of the market. More mysterious cases, Maura Murray, Asha Degree, Leah Roberts, Joe Pichler, etc. have been discussed to death on the internet, and most of the unheard of cases are unheard of for a reason, they are not that mysterious. I think a certain bias has also crept into the production of these that likes to ignore obvious risk factors in disappearances (drug use, criminal involvement, etc.) which results in cases that are presented as mysterious, but in reality have obvious indicators of what led to the disappearance/murder. alistaircranium 07-27-2022, 11:37 AM Today’s episode, “What Happened to the BBQ Man”, is now available. ghosthouse 07-30-2022, 11:05 PM I think Shelia Moses, sister of Daniel AKA The BBQ Man from the latest podcast, was fascinating. She just had "it". Very compelling to listen to. alistaircranium 07-31-2022, 08:34 PM I think Shelia Moses, sister of Daniel AKA The BBQ Man from the latest podcast, was fascinating. She just had "it". Very compelling to listen to. I agree. I found her mesmerizing. The podcast does a great job of conveying the feelings of the loved ones affected by these mysteries. alistaircranium 08-03-2022, 07:13 AM Today’s episode, “Small Town Hit”, is now available. alistaircranium 08-05-2022, 04:47 PM UPDATE: John Blauvelt has been caught. His case was featured in Season 1, Episode 35: Recruiter on the Run. https://www.greenvilleonline.com/story/news/local/2022/08/04/john-blauvelt-denied-bond-2016-death-cait-blauvelt-simpsonville-south-carolina/10235402002/ alistaircranium 08-10-2022, 07:51 AM This week’s episode, Double Murder, is now available. Chucktaylor 08-12-2022, 11:33 AM They are covering UFO/paranormal stuff too right? I'd like to see them do: Betty and Barney Hill Antônio Vilas-Boas Travis Walton Allagash Abduction Rodney Little Abduction Linda Cortile Pascagoula Abduction UFO/Bigfoot connections (like the 1988 abduction in Oregon) So much wonderful they could cover alistaircranium 08-12-2022, 11:38 AM They are covering UFO/paranormal stuff too right? Next week’s episode appears to be about a were-creature! 😍 ghosthouse 08-13-2022, 11:39 PM Double Murder might the most 'known' or famous case the podcast or the new series has covered. I am actually kind of surprised they didn't use this case for the Netflix series. Very weird and I would love to know what happened. alistaircranium 08-15-2022, 07:18 AM I wasn’t familiar with this case before last week. Could the killer have shot the older man in the head and then decapitated him to hide forensic evidence, presuming the bullet was lodged inside? alistaircranium 08-15-2022, 07:25 AM This season has had two brutal murders of elderly couples, both unsolved. This season is so dark that I get extremely enthusiastic when we get a ghost/cryptid/alien episode. Most episodes involve murder rather than missing people, plus they almost always have a suspect in mind. I like UM for its variety of cases, and if I just wanted to listen to depressing true crime podcasts, I would. ghosthouse 08-15-2022, 07:58 AM I wasn’t familiar with this case before last week. I like UM for its variety of cases, and if I just wanted to listen to depressing true crime podcasts, I would. Their case has popped up nationally - I was just reading about it the week before they announced it was the upcoming subject of the pod. I think that's what the cops think -- that they were trying to hide evidence and get the bullet. But this case is so wild -- it's a gated community so they should have been easily seen -- but of course their extensive security system was offline at the time. And the only real way they think someone could have gotten onto their property was by boat! And then they think the evidence shows that the husband was killed somewhere outside of the house and then brought into be decapitated -- and they took the wife out of the house and killed her somewhere else. All very weird and very daring. Unfortunately, I seem to find the murder cases to be the more "interesting" to listen to....but fortunately for you, it sounds like next week's is a monster/mythical beast/unknown type of case. alistaircranium 08-17-2022, 09:33 AM Their case has popped up nationally - I was just reading about it the week before they announced it was the upcoming subject of the pod. I’ve just found this season a bit repetitive. This was the second episode featuring a murdered elderly couple, which is quite depressing. And in some cases, they even seem to know a culprit’s identity but don’t have the evidence to make an arrest. There has also been a lack of missing or wanted people. Don’t get me wrong, I want justice for these cases. But as a podcast, I prefer a variety of cases and not just true crime. That’s what has always appealed to me about UM over, say, Forensic Files. On that note, today’s case is Bigfoot: Face to Face! https://unsolved.com/podcasts/bigfoot-face-to-face/ alistaircranium 08-24-2022, 09:53 AM “The Professor’s Execution” is now available. alistaircranium 08-25-2022, 06:26 AM Another not-so-mysterious case where investigators have a good idea who did it but don’t have the evidence to make an arrest. It was clear just from reading the episode description who the suspect was. It’s not really a mystery, it’s just unsolved. alistaircranium 08-31-2022, 08:28 AM “The Disappearance of Tabitha Tuders” is now available. alistaircranium 09-07-2022, 08:17 AM “A Life Cut Short” is available now. alistaircranium 09-14-2022, 08:03 AM “Island Justice” is available now. alistaircranium 09-21-2022, 10:09 AM “Alien Abduction in Indiana” is available now. This is gonna be a good one! (I often pray aliens will abduct me and take me off this awful planet. Well, the planet is fine but the people on it are not.) alistaircranium 09-28-2022, 06:58 AM “Murder of an Undercover Cop” is now available. The podcast is on hiatus until November 30 if you’d like to use that time to get caught up! alistaircranium 11-28-2022, 09:43 PM The podcast resumes its second season this Wednesday. alistaircranium 11-30-2022, 09:22 AM Hope you’re all caught up. “Secret Diary of a Missing Girl” is available NOW! alistaircranium 12-02-2022, 05:49 PM It’s clear the baby daddy did it. I’m not sure what’s going on with the podcast this season but all the true crime cases have an obvious culprit so there’s no real mystery to each case. Oh well…the paranormal episodes have been *chef’s kiss* EighthStreet 03-27-2023, 09:31 AM "Highway Ambush" March 23, 2023 show First time I've listened to a podcast in forever. Spends a quarter of it's time to spell out why the husband either did it or had someone do it, only to have a detective deflate it in a single sentence by going "his alibi checks out". Still, shooting a baby in the forehead is ice cold. ghosthouse 03-27-2023, 11:18 AM Eh it seems a lot of the cases on the show have an obvious suspect. |
