There are a lot of funny shows out there, so many that it's easy to forget some of the classics.

When you turn on almost any TV channel, you're confronted by an almost endless selection of reality tv shows and hour long dramas. But sometimes you just need a good laugh. That's where sitcoms come in, and there have been some legendary ones over the years. Seinfeld. Cheers. The Office. The list goes on and on.

Then there are the ones that don't come up in conversation immediately. A lot of people will bring up Parks and Recreation or Brooklyn Nine-Nine when talking about the funniest sitcoms of all time but not as many people think of Spin City. That's probably because Spin City was not one of the funniest sitcoms of all time but it still had its moments, and it's worth revisiting.

There are more than a few sitcoms on that list, the ones that don't necessarily spring immediately to mind when you're looking for something old school to binge. They are funny and unique. Plus, if you haven't watched them in a long time, you've probably forgotten all the jokes. Parks and Recreation is amazing you can probably recite the Lil' Sebastian Memorial episode from memory at this point.

The title of this thread is so misleading. I was expecting actual sitcoms I had forgotten about. It's also from whatcrapture so it comes as no surprise.

Spin City was pretty good, until MJF left.

I liked Just Shoot Me, My Name Is Earl and Happy Endings out of the list.

I really enjoyed My Name is Earl and 3rd Rock, both seemed to cross a taboo by being both intelligent as well as funny.....and I always sorta liked Drew Carey...not the kind of show that I would plan deliberately to be available to watch, but one when nothing else was on, and I was channel surfing for possibilities,..I could watch.

Herman's Head IMO best fits the mold of "funny but forgotten"...it too seemed to require the audience to think too much, for what normally passes as comedy

Of all those on the list, I've never seen an episode of Spin City...but it sounds enjoyable

3rd Rock is one I used to watch in prime time; several of the others I've seen in syndication. The Drew Carey Show had some really attractive people on there like Cynthia Watros and Christa Miller.

I love Everybody Hates Chris. Haven’t really watched the others though.

Well NewsRadio is my all-time favorite sitcom, so no I haven't forgotten it, but it's great to see it get some positive attention online and to be #1 on this list is pretty nice. It's the best show on the list. But of course, there's only three that I really like (NewsRadio, Spin City, My Name Is Earl).

If you haven't seen it, check it out. What have you got to lose? With ads, you can watch the whole series on The Roku Channel. If you're willing to pay, the DVDs are pretty cheap, or you can catch a few episodes on YouTube.
