Beaver and Gilbert look through the Diplomas and jump to the conclusion that he’s not graduating since his is not with the others. He could have just asked the Principal’s secretary why his diploma wasn’t either others. Beaver might have gotten a lecture and letter home form Mrs. Rayburn. Why did they jump to the conclusion that Beaver wasn’t graduating when had good grades and good attendance? I guess it would have been as funny then.

The writers tried to kind-of explain it, since he and Gilbert cut a class her and there. They could have also brought up Beaver writing his Three Musketeers book report from the TV movie.

Since it would have involved being left back you'd think Ward would have immediately phoned Mrs. Rayburn for an appointment. But he merely told Beaver to talk to her, and that then Ward wanted to talk to her.
