Sony/Columbia Pictures is the only major American film studio that isn't or hasn't been attached to an American broadcast TV network. ABC has Disney, CBS has Paramount, NBC has Universal, Fox up until 2017, was attached to 20th Century Fox (which is now of course, a Disney subsidiary), and The CW dating back to its days as The WB, is attached to Warner Bros.

I'm beginning to wonder if about the extent (https://tbivision.com/2022/01/07/exclusive-us-broadcast-groups-sony-netflix-mooted-among-the-cw-suitors/) of them being interested (animesuperhero.com/forums/threads/the-cw-might-be-sold.5793041/page-2) in purchasing The CW from ViacomCBS/WarnerMedia. As of now, Nexstar appears (https://www.thewrap.com/nexstar-in-talks-to-buy-controlling-stake-in-the-cw-from-warnermedia-viacomcbs/) to be the frontrunner.

Sony owns Game Show Network, lazy programming there with long marathons of Family Feud and America Says. They won't air the Dick Clark Pyramids anymore which was a staple of GSN for years, and they have rights to other shows like Alex Trebek's Jeopardy which only got a marathon shortly after he died. So many shows that are just buried in their vault, they don't need to own a broadcast network as well.
