A week from today, I am flying from San Diego, CA to Sacramento, CA. I have not been on an airplane since I was little (a decade or so ago) and after what happened on 9-11 I am sort of a little leery about flying. During the times I did fly, I had no fear of flying and, in fact, that was my preferred way of transportation when going on long trips. Has anybody here been on an airplane since the terrorist attacks? If so, explain how it went or what happened. I'd really like your input.

I have. We got "randomly selected" to get searched 3 times.

Yeah, I flew the October after. I was very scared, but everything went fine. I did however get searched twice while my folks got off scot free.

I'll be coming back the day you come here, I live in Sacramento. It's a pretty dull city, are you gonna go on vacation here, because the only thing good is the mall. They also have a cool train but it dumps people off where the gangsters and homeless are. The capitol is prettyyyy though. I'm scared of flying though, and I'm going to Florida more than 5 hours on a plane!!!!!!!!

I've never flown on a plane in the first place... I'm sort of scared to now though because of all the risks.

I flew to and from Florida about 3 weeks ago, and on the way there I was terrified, but everything turned out to be fine. I don't think I am even nervous about flying anymore. Now it is even safer to fly since the protection is even more safer now. :-)

I didnt fly i havent since i was in 1st grade! But my bro flew to and from Washington Dc and he was OK!

I've only been on a plane once (there and back). My mom actully just visited her parents in Ohio. Actully she got back only 2 days ago. She said that everything was fine. I may go to Ohio in the fall on a plane. I'm not scared about getting on a plane.

I recently took a trip to the UK and Ireland. And honestly, I was more afraid of the plane just crashing than a terrorist attack.
The waiting and the security wasn't a big deal. Not as much of a big deal that I thought it would be.

When I came back, the custom guy was more interested in whether I had been on a farm over there. You know, foot and mouth...

One thing to put in perspective: Thousands of planes take off everyday from airports across the world everyday. And when the last crash that you've heard of? Just think, thousands of people got to and fro today, and yesterday and the day before...perfectly fine.

I flew to Colorado This past May and I wasn't really that scared..the people we were going with were checked a few times.

I don't fly. No thanks, not for me.

We're going on a band trip in March to NYC to march in the St. Patrick's Day Parade, but it's too expensive to take a plane and the trip is already about $850 a person. 20 hours on a bus with a bunch of people I don't like... Whoo-hoo.

I've never flown on a plane in my life. But on September 17th I will be taking a plane from Seattle to San Diego. But I'm not scared or anything like that.

Never gone on a plane before.

I have flown twice since Sept. 11. Once was last October from Texas to Florida and then I flew again last March from Texas to Washington D.C.

I had no major problems on either flight. The one back in October was real quiet b/c it was so soon after Sept. 11. It was a good flight no problems what-so-ever.

When I flew to D.C., there was some type of problem with the plane that they had to call the mechanic for before we took off so I ended up on another flight so I could get to D.C. B/c of that I was selected for searching as we got on the flight. I had no problem with that. The people were very professional. On the way back from D.C. I thought we might have long lines, but we didn't. It ran real sommthly. Got home safe and sound both times.

Don't worry about it. Right now is probably the safest time to fly b/c security is SO great. It's fun flying. Just relax and enjoy the sites. :D

I flew to Hawaii on my honeymoon less than three weeks after September 11. I was a nervous wreck; my husband, on the other hand, was absolutely calm, which made me feel a little better. We both got searched on the way over, but not on the way back.

OK, let's see. I've been on a big plane 10 times (To Poland and back) but I've never been on those little diunky planes in the US, just in Poland.So basically I'm not scared to fly before OR after 9/11. I love planes and am so used to it so I tend not to think of crashes.

Actually I'm not going to be in Sacramento itself. I'm landing there but I'm staying with some cousins in Folsom which is quite a bit aways (I think but I can't say for sure) from Sacramento. My mother usually drives me up there when we go once a year but I'm going a week early with my sister. And you are right, there is nothing much to do in Sacramento but there is even less to do in Folsom. It's worth the trip to see my cousins, though.

That is very understandable. Disneyland is awesome. I don't go there as often as I want but when I do, I make sure I enjoy every minute of it.

I have never been on a plane before. It's not because of the terroist attacks or anything, I'm just the kind of person that would rather keep her feet on the ground.

September 11th has made me nervous about planes. But, this month my dad and I are going to be flying to BC to visit some friends. I guess I don't have that much to worry about. Security is much greater than before the attacks, after all. I even heard that before it was allowed to carry pocket knives on planes, but after the attacks pocket knives weren't allowed anymore. I think it's a good idea to not allow pocket knives on planes to keep the passengers safe. I remember years ago when I was at the airport saying farewell to a cousin of the family I saw this plastic box with all sorts of objects inside that were confiscated. One object I thought was strange that was in it was a corkscrew. How could a corkscrew possibly be dangerous? :confused:
