I hadn't seen the My Favorite Martian pilot in a number of years (looked great on Antenna last night). But I had totally forgotten that Mrs. Brown has a daughter and niece living with her in that first episode (both of whom have a crush on Tim). How long did those characters last - just the pilot? Were they explained away?

But I had totally forgotten that Mrs. Brown has a daughter and niece living with her in that first episode (both of whom have a crush on Tim). How long did those characters last - just the pilot? Were they explained away?

The character of Angela only appeared in 2 other early episodes, "The Matchmakers" and "Man or Amoeba", much in the way that "Happy Days" abandoned Richie's big brother Chuck--his character was dropped after some 1st season episodes and never referenced again.

Mrs. Brown's niece Annabelle was only in the pilot and was explained to be just visiting. But the original unaired pilot and script had Annabelle as Mrs. Brown's 24 year old daughter. Angela was not in it. However, the network wasn't comfortable with such a situation of potential romance between bachelor Tim and Annabelle downstairs. So they insisted that Mrs. Brown's daughter be a teen and recast Annabelle as a visiting niece. As a result, several scenes in the aired pilot had to be re-shot to reflect these changes.
