I think the cartoons of today have improved vastly from what they used to be. Nowadays both kids and adults can watch and enjoy the same cartoons like PowerPuff Girls, SpongeBob, Dexter's Laboratory, Courage the Cowardly Dog etc, etc. dawsongirl 07-31-2002, 04:38 PM The only two I can comment on are The Simpsons and the Powerpuff Girls because those are the only two I watch. But I like them for the reason stated above, it's a kiddie show with adult humor. Great stuff. :) cubsfan1060 08-01-2002, 04:52 PM I give today's cartoons a 4. I was going to give them only a 1. It seems that there are still a few decent cartoons on like Spongebob, Daria, The Critic, The Simpsons, and Duckman. Of course, the good old days were better. Only because, in my favorite part of cartoon history, the 1980s, there were no such things as boy bands. Also, Saturday mornings were packed with varieties of cartoons. You did not have to see anyone dress like Britney Spears or express your love like a crying infant. No, the 80s were great when it came to cartoons and daily life. Peace, food, drinks, family, friends, and the toons back then were very funny. Board members, I read that my efforts are paying off in terms of putting up with silly shows. Lizzie Mc Guire is no more than just re-runs. Also, Teen NBC is history! I have got to admit that I enjoy my life a lot as a fan of the classics. Best of all, I thank myself, these board members for helping me, and the luck helped me accomplish these two goals. Remember, do not dream here. Here, you must work hard to make your dream come true. GeorgiaboyJeff! 08-05-2002, 05:40 PM I was born in 1984... in the mid 80's.I miss all the good old cartoons. To me they all died basically in the late 90's... they were fun they were so many to choose from.I miss waking up on Saturday mornings & almost every station would be filled with cartoon.Cartoons today are ok.... I usually watch the old stuff.I give cartoons a 5! jaka88 11-13-2002, 01:20 PM i think new cartoons are crap DarleneIllyria 11-13-2002, 09:07 PM Originally posted by cubsfan1060 I give today's cartoons a 4. Cool. You watch TC and Duckman too. I just found out that they rerun it really early in the morning some days. Some cartoons from today suck. Well, actually most of them. However, it is pretty cool they are starting to make cartoons about teenagers. Like if you are a 15 year old, you might feel embarassed to watch cartoons meant for younger kids. If you are a teenager, now you can watch the teen cartoons and not feel embarassed about it. jayman75 11-13-2002, 10:08 PM Originally posted by jaka88 i think new cartoons are crap Overall, I'd have to agree. Nothing beats the Smurfs, SuperFriends, Popeye, Woody Woodpecker, old Tom and Jerry, and so on. I will still sit and watch Scooby Doo, GI Joe, and Bugs Bunny over many shows. I think, however, that's it's the connection to childhood, however. When I see a certain T&J cartoon, I automatically think of the first time I saw the movie Star Wars (I was about 4). That cartoon played at the beginning, and I remember sitting on the hood of my uncle's car, the drive-in speaker at full-level, and the sun barely shining on the horizon. Now, at 26 (almost 27), I see that cartoon and ALWAYS think back to that day. So, the connection to youth is what makes them important. Probably the cartoons today (what few there seem to be) are good for kids today. But they are REALLY MISSING OUT on Saturday morning cartoons. Those were the days..... :( :crying: :crying: :( Pitooey 11-14-2002, 12:03 AM Although I love the classic cartoons I could watch......... Hey Arnold & Spongebob to death.................... JethroSimpson 11-14-2002, 01:52 PM I dislike most newer cartoons because they seem to feel that they have to be very clever and have a lot of adult based humoar. I'd much rather watch a Hanna Barbera cartoon. The only new cartoons I watch are The Simpsons and sometimes Pepper Ann. Central Perk 11-17-2002, 03:52 PM New Cartoons are ok, but I prefer older cartoons like Wacky Racers, and The Smurfs. |
