That's right, the Maryland suburbs of Washington DC, the city that 227 took place in, will be given a new area code, 227! It will be overlayed onto the existing area codes of 240 and 301, meaning people with those numbers can either keep their old number or get a new number with the 227 area code. The new area code will be implemented sometime after 2024.

I find this too interesting to be a coincidence. Does anyone else think this was intentional?
