Showrunner Caroline Dries broke (https://community.cbr.com/showthread.php?118989-Batwoman-(2019)/page227) the news (https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/89727-batwoman-in-the-media-send-the-bat-signal/page/19/#comments) that the Javicia Leslie-led superhero series has been canceled (https://www.lipstickalley.com/threads/batwoman-is-cancelled.4884940/). "Just got the sad news that #Batwoman will not (https://www.reddit.com/r/television/comments/uevep0/batwoman_canceled_after_3_seasons_on_the_cw/) be seeing an S4 (https://www.reddit.com/r/BatwomanTV/comments/uevdfs/batwoman_is_not_being_renewed_for_season_4/)," Dries tweeted (https://twitter.com/carolinedries/status/1520142094131613697). "I am bummed, but full of gratitude. What an honor to make 51 episodes. So many inspiring, brilliant people contributed to this series. Thank you producers, cast and crew. Thank you, fans! We love you." Batwoman (https://forums.superherohype.com/threads/batwoman-news-discussion-thread.543635/page-93) was averaging 760,000 total viewers this season, counting DVR viewers. Batwoman premiered in 2019 with Ruby Rose starring in the title role, with Leslie succeeding her in the title role, but as a different character, for Seasons 2 and 3.

Good riddance! This ruined the Batman legacy. Garbage and I never want to see again.

Why Batwoman Was Canceled After Season 3 (https://screenrant.com/why-batwoman-season-4-was-canceled/)

After just three seasons, The CW has canceled (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgcTb6THdUs) Batwoman (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7UD3257Bw8). We break down what may have led to the decision & what season 4 might have been about.

The CW's Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow's cancelations are a major loss of LGBTQ+ representation for network television (https://www.themarysue.com/queer-representation-takes-a-hit-as-the-cw-cancels-legends-of-tomorrow-batwoman/)

"The cancellation of both series dramatically decreases the representation of queer women, and queer women of color especially, on the network," says Chelsea Steiner. "And it leaves so much unresolved, as both series ended on cliffhangers. There’s a chance we may see these characters pop up in other Arrowverse shows or crossover events, but it’s a bitter pill to lose such impactful series. Ultimately, these cancellations may be due to higher up decisions at WarnerMedia and ViacomCBS, which are currently trying to sell the CW. Depending on the outcome of the potential sale, many more series could wind up on the chopping block."
