Alice sends Peter off to school and he exits via the door into the laundry room. Do they ever show a door that you can go outside via the laundry room? I don't remember one.

I can't begin to picture where it would be if I think about the layout of the backyard.

In the "TV Sets" book, there is an exit into an area marked "Service". This door is in the laundry area, next to the washer/dryer. This service area is on the other side of the family room wall, where the couch and record player are. I'm not sure what service means, unless it's an area where utilities come in and maybe an air conditioning unit would be there.

As far as I know we never see this on the show, and there aren't many scenes in the laundry room. One I remember is when Bobby overflows the washer by putting in too much soap--I don't remember seeing a door.

Of course this book just goes by the author's imagination as to how varying sets look.

I'm thinking could this be a door that would lead out to say where the trash cans were kept? Like maybe there was an alley or walkway on that side of the house ? Because they didn't seem to have a kitchen door. I'm sure they didn't lug the trash through the den / family room to take it out !;)

Maybe Peter was skipping school and was going to nap in Alice's bed.

Chris went out the wrong way and they didn't want to waste film to re-take it, or the director didn't notice. LOL

Ya know, other than the one scene where Jan is collecting trash in Father of the Year, we do not see any of the kids taking the trash out. You are correct, nobody would be taking kitchen trash out through the family room.

The scene was cut where Peter is sprawled out on Alice's bed in his birthday suit, waiting for her to come in...

In a later unused script, Sam catches them in the act and shouts, "How long has this been going on!" as he chases Peter with a butcher knife.
