Shantel VanSanten Set to Recur on "FBI" as New Team Member
by Matt Webb Mitovich
April 20, 2022

With lead Missy Peregrym (Maggie) away on maternity leave, "FBI" has announced that a new member will join Jubal's team.

Shantel VanSanten, who first guest-starred as Special Agent Nina Chase on the CBS drama’s April 12 outing, will return in next Tuesday’s episode and recur for the remainder of Season 4.

Described as “smart, tough and accomplished,” Nina was introduced earlier this month while working undercover to infiltrate a major drug ring. When her case intersected with the team’s investigation of a double murder, Tiffany (Katherine Renee Turner) picked up on some history between Scola (John Boyd) and Nina.

Viewers came to learn that Scola “hooked up” with Nina the year prior and, in his typical intimacy-averse way, ghosted her. Scola tried to persuade Tiffany that he has since changing his bad dating habits, and at the end of that episode he tried to apologize to Nina with a friendly, platonic dinner invitation (which she conditionally accepted — meaning steak, no fish).

"FBI's" Shantel VanSanten Ponders Nina's Fate Once Maggie Returns
by Matt Webb Mitovich
August 9, 2022

Shantel VanSanten is “excited,” albeit uncertain, to see what the future holds for FBI‘s Special Agent Nina Chase once predecessor Maggie Bell (played by series vet Missy Peregrym) returns to action.

VanSanten, who thus far has appeared in four episodes as a recurring player (plus one as a guest star), tells TVLine, “The plan was always to do these 10 episodes while [Missy] got to have her baby and recover, and then she’ll be back.”

As for her future with the well-watched procedural, she said, “I think the door is open, and I’m excited to see where that might lead.”

Shantel VanSanten Moves from "FBI" to "FBI: Most Wanted" for Season 5
by Rosy Cordero
Nov. 20, 2023

Shantel VanSanten is bringing Special Agent Nina Chase from "FBI" to "FBI: Most Wanted" for its fifth season.

Chase was first introduced on the mothership series toward the end of Season 4, during Missy Peregrym's maternity leave, and she continued her recurring role in various episodes of Season 5 which concluded in May. She remains in a relationship with "FBI’s" Stuart Scola (John Boyd) as they raise their infant son Douglas together.

The move follows Alexa Davalos’ exit from "FBI: Most Wanted".
