She had access to fabulous fashions and a nice apartment despite having no roommate only really getting by on a struggling actress' salary.

Of course it was but it didn't matter. This show wasn't trying to absolutely mirror reality. There's an interview with Marlo Thomas where she said, "Aw the heck with it." They wanted her to be fashionable. In reality, for her to live as she did, her father would've had to have been paying her bills.

I agree that her financial situation was NOT realistic at all. I've been watching episodes and I've not seen her in the same outfit twice. She has different clothes not only for each episode, but for practically each scene of each episode! And they are not cheap clothes. But she certainly looks good!

Definitely entertainment. Not real life.
