When country music became big in the 80's it seemed that the country love songs of the 80's became big hits. I found the classic duet You And I that singer Eddie Rabbitt sang with Crystal Gayle and when I heard that song I can't figure out why it's one of the popular love ballads of the 80's and when I listened to the song the lyrics are somewhat weird like something you could sing to your crush and how Eddie Rabbitt decided to do this song with Crystal Gayle i'll never know. Was Crystal Gayle and Eddie Rabbitt crushes in real life and that's why they sang You And I?

Since both artists were signed to Elektra at the time it would seem logical that they were approached by the record label execs to do it. It's possible that Eddie Rabbitt himself chose Crystal Gayle for his duet partner, but whether he did or didn't doesn't matter because it worked out very well.

Another duet was done years later.
