I only one season 1 on DVD but apparently like other sitcoms there are so many edited out scenes we dont see on TV anymore. I was watching a few episodes on youtube and was floored at scenes I have never seen before. For example on the episode The return of Eleanor when Larry streaks to the bedroom, Mrs Roper goes to the door singing and keeps asking Larry for an encore. In the episode The Older Woman, Larry tries to seduce the old lady but a major scene is cut. He pours the wine in the kitchen and walks into the living room. When he sees the old woman, he runs back into the kitchen and refuses to continue with the plan. Janet then promises Larry that Chrissy will go on a date with him if he continues on with the plan. Larry reluctantly agrees and then goes into the living room. In all the TV scenes that are played, it shows Larry fully cooperating with the plan and just immediately grabbing the glasses of wine and go into the living room.
I know the endings are always cut in syndication but I wonder how many scenes we are missing. Now I want to get the DVD collection to get see all these scenes that I dont remember seeing before.

I grew up watching the show but I cant of course remember every scene so its neat when you see these scenes.

One scene I do remember watching as a kid was One Day At A Time when Barbara finds Snyder and his girlfriend smoking pot. Barbara made all these subtle jokes like....whats for dinner "pot roast." And all of her banter is cut from TV syndication. They edit the hell out of the Golden Girls too.

I was that age when it debuted. It was so cutting edge and filled with sex that in elementary school it was something to brag about. "I watch Threes Company" because it meant you were old enough to get the sex jokes even though you probably weren't. I remember watching season 2 where Jack poses as a nude model and watching with my dad. I heard him say that maybe I should not be watching it but I still did :lol:
It went to #1 with a bullet. But looking back the show still cracks me up.

Pretty much every episode of Three's Company has 2-3 minutes edited out but luckily we have the DVD's, I also noticed how the syndicated version carefully would trim back a few of the homophobic remarks that Mr. Roper or Mr. Furley take towards Jack

It turned out there was a whole set that had been cut the set of Lanes hair salon where Jack buys the moustache.

Yes I didnt see that scene at all on Cable or Local syndication. I didnt see it until I became a grown man and bought the DVD

Since October 16, a station that shows classic tv shows throughout the day, started showing Three's Company for the first time. It was ironic that Suzanne Somers died the day before, and this day would have been her birthday.

Initially, I didn't see the big deal about this station showing Three's Company, since this show is regularly shown on other channels. But it's reruns on this stations, that I am seeing scenes for the first time.

Not long after I saw one of Chrissy's tag scenes (her last), I started the thread Chrissy's tag scenes.

The edits done for the syndication versions were also different than the edits done once the series starting airing on TBS and Nick@Nite in the 90's trust me I used to record onto VHS all episodes.

That funny scene was present in syndication but when aired on Nick@Nite it was entirely trimmed out, really that scene is so hilarious I'd like to know the dumb person that's in charge when it came to editing sitcoms once they left the network airings.

I honestly don't have much of an issue with editing out the Chrissy tag scenes (when Suzanne Somers was going through her contract dispute during Season 5). It was pretty redundant to have Jack or Janet fill Chrissy in on what we just saw happen in the episode. Plus, it was kind of a blessing in the disguise that we saw less and less of Chrissy because her character by that point, had become a Flanderized cartoon character.

Its still a mystery why Jack only phone scene with chrissy was cut out of syndivcation
