I think Ernie was one of the cutest actors when he was little. Like he would be in the top 10 of cute male child actors.

By the end of the show, he looks pretty darn good, almost big-time handsome.

Is he wearing a type of pants called Angel Flights? They were rather popular in the late 70s early 80s if I remember correctly. He sure fills them out if he is.

When Ernie first came on the show in season 4 they tried to pass him off as a classmate of Chip's.

They must have figured out by season 6 that wouldn't work, and they put him back close to his real age. In the early color seasons they had him getting into silly messes, kind of like Beaver. Like when he fell into Zsa Zsa's pool. By the end of season 12 he was 17 with typical-of-1972 long hair.

Yes, I've thought it would've been "neat" if Ernie had a serious relationship written in, in the later episodes; even Chip never really had one (a few one-shot episodes, yes--one with Angela Cartwright, IIRC) but, boom--in season 11 he's eloped after around 6 episodes.

Ernie, oh, Ernie.
Wonder if the character moved back to Bryant Park as an adult?
