Since launching his Fox News late-night show Gutfeld! last year, Gutfeld has occasionally topped Stephen Colbert, but has usually been in second place. But in recent weeks, Gutfeld has consistently delivered more total viewers than The Late Show.

Gutfeld's numbers are amazing no question about it. FOX News is on basic+ in most areas of the country, to be beating all the late night over the air network shows is an accomplishment. If the numbers stay at that level FOX may be tempted to take another run at late night by adding Gutfeld to the broadcast network.

An additional observation, the numbers for the Fallon show are shockingly bad. Carson at his peak was pulling in 15 million a night, Fallon is barely clearing a million, I know that was then, this is now but still.... . The combined numbers for the three networks are so low, there has to be someone more talented than these three that can be funny and entertain, the first network that finds that person can own late night.

They could try to put Gutfeld on Fox broadcast, but if this keeps up, they may say, why bother? A simulcast might up the ad rate (and his salary), but how many affiliates would clear the time?
