Amber Benson recently explained why she had refused Joss Whedon and his request to resurrect her character, Tara. Her choice was a good call.

It was a good decision for her, but it's sad we never got to see a Willow/Tara reunion.

Still, she said it perfectly: if she came back, Joss could just kill Tara off again... it happened to Charisma/Cordelia just a year later. Better to stay dead than hurt the viewers once more.
