Molly would like one of her daughters (18 and 12 years old) to play the role of Samantha. Her 12 year old daughter would be interesting since Molly says that she is woke (just like Molly Parker) and very political and questions her mother's involvement in the John Hughes movies. Molly has also said she doesn't want her kids to act until they are 18 years old because of her experience on Facts of Life.

I feel like there are few/no real issues with Pretty in Pink. In retrospect, Sixteen Candles is horrifying. I can see why she wouldn't want to watch that one with Adele. The Breakfast Club is somewhere in between.
