View Full Version : Mama’s Family reboot
TVLegend 03-22-2022, 04:02 PM Do you think you’d watch a Mama’s Family reboot, kind of like that Roseanne one a few years ago, but with a totally different cast and different actors and actresses playing the characters? Or maybe a movie titled something like “Mama’s Family: A Raytown Reunion” or something along the lines of that.
Sterling Holobyte 03-22-2022, 07:41 PM You mean like the Star Trek,, Magnum PI, etc. reboots that I never have nor never will watch because the studios have a way of taking classic shows I like and turning them into trash?
Does that answer your question? ;)
(And Mama's Family is one of my all-time favorites, so...)
Wawwie 03-22-2022, 08:23 PM Vint and Naomi's daughter, Tiffany would be in her late 20's or about 30. The show could focus on her and her husband. They could show grandma Thelma from time to time too.

lol, I’m a MF lover myself, just curious as to who would watch a Mama’s Family reboot. If there was one I probably wouldn’t watch it either, to be honest.
TheLittleFaerie 03-23-2022, 01:24 AM It would be funny because Mama would look exactly the same while all the rest would look old lol
Mama would be in her 90s now but I'm betting she's still alive, maybe she and Iola have moved in together where Iola is helping look after Thelma.... Iola's whole life basically looking after someone.
It'd be interesting to see if Carol could in ANY WAY still pull Eunice off being in her 80s..... Vickie can still play Mama to perfection, but I wonder what 80 year old Eunice would be like

That is true.
Just a few years ago for my birthday my wife took me to see Vicki's "Two Woman Show"(bless her heart because my wife HATES Mama's Family, so that was a very nice thing to do), and I was amazed, because when Vicki left and came back as Mama, it WAS Mama. Just like she popped right out of the tv screen. It was pretty awesome!
My only, big regret about that day was that after the show, my wife an I were walking through the casino and going up the escalator on the way out, when I did a double-take because I saw Vicki and some guy coming down the escalator the other way. I said to my wife, "That's Vicki Lawrence!" and watched as she and this gentleman went into a restaurant that was in the casino.
My wife asked me if I wanted to go talk to her, and though I really wanted to, the look on Vicki's face seemed like she didn't really want to be bothered. And then I also thought of Russell Johnson's(the Professor from Gilligan's Island) audiobook, when he mentioned some fans pestering him for autographs and pictures while he was out enjoying a meal with his family. And so I thought, Nah, I don't want to bother Vicki when she is eating.
And that is my biggest regret from that day, that I didn't get to talk to her. What I should have done, and what Russell Johnson also mentioned about his incident with fans, was wait until she was done eating, and then talk to her. Russell had said that he told the fans that he would be happy to talk with them, after he had finished eating.
Alas, I will never know if Vicki would have been happy to talk to me after she finished eating. Unless I would happen to see her again as she is coming down an escalator and walk into a restaurant that I am at. Which would be a one in a million chance.:(

I kinda see it both ways... I like to respect privacy, BUT STILL if someone CHOOSES to be a celebrity, they know what they're getting into, they shouldn't get pissy when fans approach them. Also, I've talked to a lot of ppl in the millennial generation who don't even know who Carol Burnett and Vickie Lawrence are, believe it or not! So I'd think they'd appreciate ppl who still adore them
TVLegend 04-02-2022, 03:29 PM If there was a MF movie it would probably be something along the lines of this:
Mama, Naomi, and Iola are preparing for a party over at Mama’s house for Phillip, (Mama’s son from The Family sketches), who’s become a successful writer, as he returns home after five long years.
Vinton almost sets the porch on fire in an attempt to start a fire on the grill outside.
Later, Ellen comes over with Bruce to help Mama/Naomi/Iola.
Soon after, Ed, Eunice, and Bubba arrive. Ed, Bubba, and Bruce try to help Vint.
After a while, Vint goes to pick up Uncle Don, Aunt Lorraine, and Aunt Myrtis.
Ellen goes to pick up Aunt Effie who comes with the rum balls.
Eventually, Phillip arrives, but with a surprise accompanying him: his wealthy British fiancé. Mama in particular doesn’t approve. The family has to take it upon themselves to accept Phillip’s fiancé into their lives.

That would be a clever way to combine most all the characters from all different eras of the show
It might be funny to have Vint and Phillip be twins and portrayed by the same actor.... Vint being the simple one, Phillip being the smart one lol Since essentially Phillip became Vint in the original show
