This morning I unearthed a rare commercial treasure featuring Regis Philbin from his time on The Joey Bishop Show. This commercial is from 1968 and is a Hai-Karate Aftershave commercial. When the commercial begins Regis shows Joey what he bought and when Joey asks Regis what it is Regis whips out a bottle of Hai-Karate Aftershave and as soon as he puts it on Regis starts doing karate moves while a group of girls cheer him on and Joey Bishop tells Regis to stop and return to the show. I didn't even know this commercial existed but it is very funny to see

On the subject of 1960's TV commercials, I recently watched on You Tube the pilot episode of Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In from 1967. The pilot episode has three commercials from Timex which is the company that sponsored the pilot. But on the DVD from Time-Life, this pilot episode has two of the three Timex commercials edited out and I'm not happy about it at all. Shame on Time-Life for editing the pilot episode and removing two of the Timex commercials. The voice over at the beginning of the pilot was edited out also, the part that introduces Timex as the sponsor, it sounds like Judy Carne's voice. On You Tube, the pilot episode appears complete and runs about 57 1/2 minutes. On the DVD from Time-Life, the pilot runs only about 53 1/2 minutes because of the editing that was done to it. :mad:

Such great commercials back then - Good & Plenty, Starkist Tuna, Hawaiian Punch, Colt 45, all the various cereals: Trix, Lucky Charms, Cap'n Crunch, etc. Most commercials are crap now. Everything needs to be politically correct.

Hi, Bestie! WOW! I am going to look that commercial up. Regis was very funny in commercials. I bet this was a good one. Do you think it would be a good idea to do a documentary on celebrities doing commercials? I kow I would watch it.
